In your opinion, do I hold a chance at becoming a nurse with an IQ of 105, and a strong work ethic?

I have no idea what my IQ is, but I know I'm no genius. I can read really fast (but it doesn't matter because I have to re-read things in order to actually learn the material), but that's about it. School, aside from my music classes and English/arts stuff, wasn't easy for me. I worked my ass off in my pre-med and some general ed classes because, even though I though chemistry and biology were interesting, it didn't come naturally to me.
You won't know unless you try, but nursing school isn't easy for most people and I daresay, most people are of average IQ level and have to work at it.

I don't even know what my IQ is.

I took one of those really quick online IQ tests once because I was bored. I'm sure it was completely inaccurate...I scored somewhere between 130-140.
I am pretty smart though

I agree with you totally. I also had to put a lot of effort into my studies in order to do well. I love what I do and find it interesting so that helps to make the effort of learning worth it in the end.

Becoming and being a nurse doesn't require an exceptional intellect.
Being dumb-as-a-stump would probably be an inhibitor but I'm of the opinion that most people have the intellectual chops to handle nursing.

OP, the fact that you're asking the question implies that you think nurses as a group have higher than average IQs. Where on earth did you get that idea???? :) I would assume that most of us are of average intelligence. Getting into and through nursing school is more about determination, motivation, and self-discipline than sheer intelligence (same is true of medical school, by the way).
