Just come on in the waters fine. #
Depends on what nursing you want to do though.
Psychiatry is excellent, really makes a difference to peoples lives.
General is good but by god you dont seem to take a break.
Midwifery, NAH only for the girlies!!
I would suggest you look for a Support worker job, or Nursing assistant job (do you have them in the states) as a way to get your hands dirty and decide if you like it, if so go for the plunge.
We have NA jobs here.
Another idea is an Orderly, because most places, their orderlies go all over the hospital. You could see a lot of aspects of helathcare that way.

Typically you have to be 18 to work in most healthcare jobs now. Why not start volunteering at a hospital for now? I think you only have to be 16 to do that.

David, my dad wanted me to go in to the Army, all kinds of other things than be a nurse.
Bottom line is you listen to your own inner voice and don't base your life's decisions on other people's opinions. Research it yourself, do what you wanna do.

Go for it if that is what you want to do.To be interested in nursing you must be an exceptionally caring young individual, we need that. I am a part time RPN student in Ontario, grad 2007. When my oldest daughter was born weighing one and a half pounds one of the most caring nurses in the NICU was a male nurse.Follow your heart and good luck.

I also suggest volunteering at the hospital. Follow your heart. Don't let other people make your decisions. Male nurses are just the same as female nurses. No difference as far as I am concerned. A nurse is a nurse no matter what gender or initials after their name. Just follow your heart and dreams no matter what other people say. Good luck.
