I would love to know what the pay rates are for LVN's in California State Prisons. Any info would greatly be appreciated. Also when you go for an interview can you please give me an idea on what kind of questions they will be asking, thank u soooo much:nurse:

The pay rate for the prision with less than 12 months experience is $3,878. Over 12 months of experience $4072. If you work at San Quention or Salinas, the pay is $4,447 with less than 12 months exp and $4,680 with at least 12 months exp. Plus you recieve a $1,500 bonus after one qualifying pay period, another $1,500 after 6 qualifying pay periods and $1,000 after 18 months of service.

I have a friend who just got a job at Vacaville State Prison and she said that all they did was have her take a mental health test that took about an hour and half and had her fill out a boat load of paperwork asking her if she had been convicted of any crimes, visited anyone she knew in prison or jail, knows an incarcerated individual currently serving time, etc. She said they just went over the paperwork with her and then told her that they would schedule her physical exam. Bingo...that was all. She starts working next month.

Hi Christine.....is this salary for the month or for 160 hours ...because month never end up with 160 hours. 160 hours means 4 weeks but how about 2-3 more days you work..I'm in the same boat..can you elaborate more ? please..

Not exactly about pay rates for the state. But can anyone tell me if they will put licensed practical nurses through school to be a registered nurse? Are there incentives or tuition reimbursement or scholarships for prison employees? Any information on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
