who are the corporate?

Published

okay so call me ignorant but i still dont know who these corporate pesonnels are. do they own the nursing homes? yesterday they came to our facility and she snatched my mar from me, asked me why i wasnt giving pain medicine when he is standing next to me, asking me what medication am i giving to the patient. she searched all mars in all units just looking for mistakes and just torturing our don about it.

it seems like they come to our facility at least once a month doing this. when i worked in several different nursing homes i never had to deal with corporate personnel.

Take a good look at their name tags, they should be wearing one. Ask your DON or supervisor about them. If they are from corporate, yes, corporate is the company that owns the facility. They can be a pain, but not as much of a pain as the state inspectors when they come around.

like it or not you have to be respectful and avoid arguing with your bosses- they do have something to do with your pay check....

Do your job the best you can, and let your DON deal with them. If they come, stay calm, answer questions respectfully and if they overstep boundaries like why arent you giving pain meds, answer that it is a professional consideration, and you will be more than happy to give when the situation warrants it and the order from the physician is in place, They are just looking to make an impression so their bosses will think that they are doing their jobs

Some Corporate people may not be the owners, but persons the owners hire to keep up with their facilities. Lots of times you have a corporate person for each department- like a "Corporate Nurse Consultant" who works with the DON to help keep the facility on track. You can have also a "Corporate" Dietary person, manintenance person, administrator, business office, activities, social worker...the list could go on and on. These people, in my experience, have the responsibility of traveling periodically to each of the facilities in the corporation and helping out, doing mock surveys, trouble shooting, advising, ect...they are supposed to be helpful- they are supposed to teach and help us to do better...they are supposed to make sure we are following the guidelines and policies of the company and the regulations. They should be well versed on the regulations. They should not be mean to you- they should be setting an example...:lol_hitti haha what world do I live in????? Well that is the way it is supposed to be....in my opinion.:twocents:

I have worked with 2 different coorporations over the past year. They are not all the same. One group tends to be as you describe and the other group did come in, be polite, and try to help us stay on track. If they found concerns, it was never presented in a negative tone and then they showed us how best to find a solution.

It is often the corporate peoples job to find concerns before state finds them. Corporate people are employed by the corporation just the same as you are, they are just responsible for multiple facilities and are much higher up the food chain.
