Has anyone else starting nursing school at the age of 45 or so? My youngest will be a senior in high school next year and my other two in college. I have waited a long time to go back to school. I wanted to know if others have gone back in mid life.
i am 40 and I a pursuing a nursing career as well. I've taken the PSB test twice and failed!! I will take it again with hopes of passing. Has anyone taken it? Do you have any suggestions? I think making a career change in our midlife is a wonderful thing. We're more focused! Good luck to everyone!
:wink2::)I am sorry your 30 years of nursing has been so negative to you------why did you keep doing it all those years if you weren't happy? Sometimes we need to look within ourselves and decide is it the place I work or is it me? I have wonderful experiences in my many places of employment since becoming a nurse. Remember the quote, "attitude is everything" and "you are the only one who can change that!":)

Yes. I was 45 when I started NS and I will be graduating in June! My youngest was in high school when I started this quest. I knew right off the bat I had made the right decision and am so looking forward to completing my goal! Good luck to you turtlesrus! You CAN do it!
I am 45 and just completed my first semester. My goal is to get a Bachelor's degree as a RN (my first degree.)
I decided to go back to school when my son was a senior in high school. I started taking a couple classes at a time to get my feet wet and see how I did. I took as many classes that I could that would transfer to the University. Then took the leap and applied to our Univeristy's Bachelor of Science, RN program. I was accepted and just completed my first semester. It is a challenge going back to school as an older student, but you also have many advantages. Support and understanding from your family is important.
That is wonderful! My son is a jr. in high school this year. I am ready to achieve my dream of being a nurse. This pre-entrance test is really working my nerves. I'm taking the PSB test again on Monday and praying that I score high enough so I can move to the next level. this test is no joke! 40 and ready for a change!!!!!2
