I know you posted this weeks ago but I thought I would still answer. I just graduated from Concorde on Dec. 2. The program had ALOT of rough patches but I walked in with no pre reqs 16 months ago and now I am done, so for me it was worth it. I think our clinical experience is actually pretty good compared to some schools. About the LPN thing, we only had 2 bridge students, the rest came in with no nursing in their background. I would say you have a better chance NOT being an LPN because you pay the school more for the same period of time. Anyway, good luck and I hope you have a good experience. Hi there, thankyou for replying to my message... I took the NET test at concorde and got a good grade. Im praying to god that I get in the RN program for May 2009.. But I wont find out until March so Im kind of a nervouse wreck still!! do you have any suggestions onto what I should do while im waiting because my fear is recieving a call and having them tell me that Im not eligable to get in the RN program for May. should I stay in school and try and finish my bachelors or wait it out??

What did you get on the test? If you get a no for May I would enroll back where ever you are going now. Last time I checked the highest scores on the Net test are the ones in the program.

3aglecre, I have a friend who is currently in the RN-ADN program at Concorde Aurora. He said the program isnt' the greatest, but you get what you put into it, and he's enjoying it.

I looked into the other programs in the area, and it would actually cost more to wait for a cheap public school than Concorde's really expensive program, since you start your career years earlier. I took the NET to get into the RN program for May this past Mon, Feb. 1 and they told me my score was good enough to get a spot. I hope you make it, cuz then we might be spending the next year and a half together! Good luck!

I am still considering this school. The nclex pass rates are excellent, so the school and teachers must be doing something right. Does anyone know how much the cost is? I heard a price but that was years ago. My biggest concern is how to pay for it. I am not sure how much financial aid I would get.

I just got the latest info from the Financial Aid office this past Mon. (Feb. 1st)...

The full cost for the May / November 2009 starts is: $42,519.20

Breakdown:

$3,280.45 in fees

$39238.75 tuition ($525.35/credit hour)

If you don't have, I think it's a Masters, then you can qualify for Pell Grants

For Academic Year #1 you can get $9000.00 in Stafford Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized), $10,500 for Academic Year #2, which if you ONLY get Stafford Loans, then you need $23,409.20 in self-funding.

Wells Fargo has Collegiate Loans that are private loans that cover "up to cost of education" which means Room & Board, etc. www.wellsfargo.com/studentloans. Interest rates are based on your credit score, and a co-signer helps.

If you can get in (since acceptance is based on NET score), and not have to wait 2-3 years to get into another program, figuring that working as an RN will pay $25,000 a year better than your current job, waiting 2 years to start would cost you the entire "expensive" cost of Concorde in lost earnings!

Bottom line - if being an RN is a passion, then waiting actually costs way more money than borrowing a ton.

Oh, and if you have any of the following classes that you can transfer to Concorde, (10 years old or newer) you save $525.35 a credit hour.

Anatomy & Physiology 1 - 3 hrs

Anatomy & Physiology 2 - 2 hrs

Chemistry - 3 hrs

College Algebra - 3 hrs

Elements of Human Communication (Speech) - 3 hrs

English Composition - 3 hrs

Introduction to Sociology - 3 hrs

Introduction to Microbiology - 3 hrs

Nutrition - 3 hrs

Psychology of Growth and Development (Developmental Psych) - 3 hrs

Wow, thanks. This really helps. The hard part for me is coming up with that extra money though. We live paycheck to paycheck now and have no extra money (nothing in savings either). It would be hard to continue to work while in school, but at the same time, I can't afford to quit. I am trying to get my CNA license and do that.

I know I couldn't get a private loan. My credit is not great, my husband's is worse. And I have no one to co-sign. But like you said, I would make a lot more money. My mother is a nurse and makes 3 times what I make! I didn't even make $20,000 this past year (I was working part time for part of the year though, at full-time for a full year I make around $24,000).

I actually do have a few of these classes, could even take a few more. I didn't realize they would transfer classes in. I could finish most of these classes much cheaper and online.

Sorry, forgot to ask one more thing. Your friend that is in the program now, did he say exactly what the problems were? I know they were having problems years ago with teachers, the program director and keeping clinical sites. But I heard everything was worked out now.
