I am looking to work in home health care and I was wondering about the agencies in Denver. Which, in your opinion, are the best? I am looking at Pro Case Management right now as I have a connection through a friend. Any advice? Pay is not my only concern, I really value an overall great place to work. Thanks in advance!

The training itself is good, and I feel that we have very competitive clinical training. I even had small rotations in an ICU and an ER (very uncommon for ADN students.) If you are willing to never know where you are going to be the next day or if you will get a call at 5am telling you to be at your clinical site in an hour then you will be just fine. The other RN students were great, some of the other programs were.....a little disrespectful. There were fights and people selling clothes out of the trunks of their cars or blaring music which was pretty foreign to me. I know many of my classmates found jobs but only a couple ended up in a decent hospital spot. Most of them are working long term care or corrections because they had to pay the bills. Jobs will come back so that is not something you should worry to much about. Hell we even had a girl hired right into a NICU! It is a good idea to work as a CNA in a hospital while in school if you happen to have a license. Just know the first year of work may be in a less than ideal situation. Also, if you are offered a job during school TAKE IT. I passed one up thinking I would be working in a hospital and now I really regret it. Hope that helps!

For the RN program? From Aug 07-Dec 08 Still no job....grrrr.

I think my training was actually pretty adequate but I cant find a job.....so who knows. I would recommend it if you are willing to deal with some drama, and we took the NET. I cant remember what the minimum score was.

Huge organizational problems as well as high instructor turn over. We had instructors even leave us mid-session. All of this is understandable but the administration was down right rude about our concerns and often left us to deal with their messes. We were as flexible as a people paying $40,000 should be expected to be and they still treated us like garbage. I have to admit the education we received wasn't bad, but we were certainly spent those 16 months waiting for them to drop the ball. :angryfire

I was in the LPN program at Concorde for 3 sessions before I switched to the RN program. The LPN program was GREAT and I learned a lot. The RN program was kind of a nightmare but still worth it. I really recommend the LPN program.

What did you get on the test? If you get a no for May I would enroll back where ever you are going now. Last time I checked the highest scores on the Net test are the ones in the program.

I know you posted this weeks ago but I thought I would still answer. I just graduated from Concorde on Dec. 2. The program had ALOT of rough patches but I walked in with no pre reqs 16 months ago and now I am done, so for me it was worth it. I think our clinical experience is actually pretty good compared to some schools. About the LPN thing, we only had 2 bridge students, the rest came in with no nursing in their background. I would say you have a better chance NOT being an LPN because you pay the school more for the same period of time. Anyway, good luck and I hope you have a good experience. There are no pre req's for the RN program but you have to get a competitive score on the NET test, the highest scores are placed in the program. Again, I would NOT recommend the RN program. It's currently a nightmare.

I did dream dinners and the food was ok, not great but much better than fast food. I didn't really like the sweet or asian things but some of them were very tasty. The best part is they use very good quality meat and you can really pick and choose the seasoning. I always add salt to dream dinners meals. Side note, the staff is GREAT, that was the best part. I think for people just trying to get good healthy meals on the table, dream dinners is good!

I would never recommend the RN program. It is a joke and we are all extremely frustrated. I would quit if I had not already spent so much money. It is terrible. I am currently in the Med Surg class and nearly all of us are failing and there are no resources to help us. But, the LPN program is GREAT!! I highly recommend it ( I was in that program for 3 sessions). It is the perfect amount of time and the teachers are great!

We start clinicals not this week but next. It should be crazy. Oh and, no I am not moving to Chicago, I wanted to but a bunch of shiat fell into my path so chicago is out of the picture, but if you want to you should! Its an amazing fucking city...I love it!

Of course there is, I have met many people from the 3rd, 4th and 5th sessions, and they are all great, we are all happy to help...hell we all feel like beginners ourselves. tee hee.

I am terrible but I am sort of giggling because you have the same fears we all had, the only repeaters I know of is J and Devon...and they are both smart girls who will make it the second time around. Dont let anything intimidate you, the reality is the vast, VAST majority of us passed, and we are passing 2nd session.. really just come talk to me..I will help you out (even tho it sounds like you are passing and doing really well) There are a ton of 2nd session kids who would love to talk to you about 1st session. I am always smoking on break, just come find me.

In my class, more than 2 people are passing that is for sure... our Prof is great, and we will make it thru, its just....labor intensive.
