I emailed the nurse manager directly, i was actually turned down for the position by the recruiter so i emailed the NM and she interviewed me :-) i had a job offer within a few days :-)

I graduated in June took a little time off to have my baby, took Nclex in November so just a few months. :-)

I finally got a job in Denver, with an ADN , in a hospital, on a peds floor!!!! Exactly the job I wanted!! I am so excited and I cant wait to start this new chapter!!! Persistence pays off so anyone out there looking dont give up!! If I can do it anyone can do it!!

I am also a New Grad here in the Denver area I graduated with my ADN in june and have had a terrible time finding a job, that being said my frustration took over and I started being a little more aggressive with my job search. I figured the computer isnt going to hire me the Nurse Manager is do why not start there. I started checking hospital websites and googling nurse managers on specific floors I was interested in, finding their email, and sending them an email with my resume, cover letter and personal interest of working on their floor, I also stated i would work FT, PT, PRN, Nights, weekends, holidays, etc... Most of them responded and i had very positive results, one recommended me to a peds clinic her friend runs that was looking for a part time nurse and I was hired for that position, i have an interview at National Jewish Health on friday on the peds floor and 2 other hospital interviews next week. I think if you really want something hiring managers like to see that your motivated, and a little internet stalking to find email addresses never hurt anyone ;-) Its not about who you know its about making an effort to prove you can be a valuable part of the team and making a great first impression with the nurse manager.

VVMC is amazing I did my senior practicum there and if I didn't live in Denver and have kids I would have applied to work there. The people that work there are all amazing and its a beautiful hospital with AMAZING views!!

Since my post I have been able to schedule some hospital interviews, I have also been offered a part time position in a peds clinic. I just had to get a little more aggressive with my strategies ( E-mailed nurse managers directly) and have gotten very positive results so far. I will update soon if I land a hospital job. Hi Everyone, I am a new grad ADN June 2014 ( i know I should have gone BSN but I am already enrolled in an RN to BSN program) anyways I cant find a job, i really really want to work in a hospital at this point any hospital on any floor, can anyone give me any tips on how to land a job? I have literally done 100s of online application and nothing. Im just so frustrated and upset :-( please any help or tips are appreciated. Should I just start going to hospitals resume in hand and talking to Nurse Managers? Or is that frowned upon?

I was at Denver Health for Med Surg 2 and peds, st. Joes for ob and Vail valley med center for capstone which was amazing!!

I am a recent graduate of DSON and had a great experience there. There were some ups and downs with scheduling and last minute time changes but otherwise my experience was great. I have not yet gotten a job as I had a baby just 2 months after graduating but feel well prepared for when I do begin my 1st job as a nurse. As far as clinicals go there is alot of nursing schools in this state and hospital placements are hard to come by. That being said my only clinical outside of a hospital was for medsurg 1 and that was done in a nursing home. Every clinical therafter was done in a hospital. My capstone was fantastic in the PCU at Vail Valley Hospital. I feel that the challenges that you will face at DSON are challenges that you will see at almost every nursing school. Yes its expensive but well worth every penny in my opinion.

So I have been applying for clinical asst positions at a local hospital while I finish nursing school and it seems like I just get buried in a sea of online applications. I am wondering if it would be ok to go to the facility introduce myself to hiring managers and present my resume in person? Is this appropriate or do they do online applications so people wont come in person? I would just like to be able to express my interest in the position face to face.. Any advice?

Hi, I am currently attending nursing school and have been applying at childrens for their clinical assistant positions. I have a few questions, first if all is this like a cna position? Im looking into this as a job to get my foot in the door while I am finishing school. Secondly would it be a bad idea to go to the hospital, introduce myself, and drop off my resume? I just feel like online I cant really sell myself and my interest in the hospital like I could face to face. I have a passion for peds and I know for a fact this is where I want to be but how do I get my foot in the door? Thanks for your help! Jennifer

I am currently in an ADN program and have been looking for a new grad Residency program I can apply for upon graduation. I am really trying to get into peds most specificlly the PICU or NICU. I live in CO and the residency programs here at childrens hospital wont even consider you with an ADN. However I have found several programs in other states that welcome ADN applicants. There programs tend to run between 13-18 weeks. My question is can I apply to out of state residency programs? I dont want to move away from CO but thought this might look good on my resume when I begin applying for jobs here.

I did have chicken pox as a kid and I had a Titer in the past that was fine and said I was immune. Maybe I can get a copy of those results. Thanks so much for your reply you gave me alot of great information.

That is very true I need to stop freaking out I just really wasnt expecting to be pregnant. My husband and I wanted a baby but after I was done with school.

So I am starting my nursing program in January. My titers show I need Varicella and Hep B vaccinations however I just found out that I am pregnant (on birth control). I dont know what to do, I dont know if I can do the program without the vaccs, I am totally freaking out I have waitied a year to get into the program I really dont know what to do.
