Hello. I am looking to apply to the CT State Community College - Capital Nursing program for the 2025-2026 semester! I have completed the required pre-req's for admission, and completing additional core but not required courses (Ex. A&P II) when the Fall semester opens next week. I'm likely going to apply to more than one selective admissions program to be sure I follow the destiny meant for me.
I'm wondering what everyone's stats are as we all are getting ready to apply to the selective admissions program. Mine are...
A&PI : A
TEAS: 79.3%
Nursing GPA: 3.7
Happy studying, and selective admissions application time fellow students!! I hope this thread proves to be as productive as others have in years past 🙂
Guys, first of all, congratulations for those who go accepted and don't give up for the ones who did not.
I'm starting my prereqs this Summer and I'm planning to apply for the nursing program next year. I saw that the mandatory classes before applying are just Anatomy & Physiology, English Comp, College & Career Success, and Statistics.
I've noticed a lot of people are also taking other courses like Microbiology before applying. My question is:
Does taking more nursing classes (besides the 4 required ones) before applying actually increase your chances of getting in? Or is it okay if I only take the 4 prereqs before applying?
I work full time, so I'm trying to be realistic. If I get an A+ in the 4 required prereqs, my nursing GPA would still be a 4.0, right?
Thanks for any advice!

you only need the required pre-req's... But if you're just starting those four courses have pre-req's to them, LOL. Unfortunately, no one gets to start at the community colleges or any college really and just jump in to A&P or stats. In order to do A&P you need Chem or Gen Bio, in order to do statistics you have to test out to place in it or do intermediate algebra first, in order to do comp you have to place into it. The pre-req's feel like they take forever and a day but once you have sustainable momentum with doing them.. it goes by quick. It takes most students about 3 semesters to do the required pre-req's. I did A&P I during the Summer to be sure I'd be ahead of the game. But, beware those Summer accelerated courses are a beast in themselves. Good luck!
