Oh okay. Someone told me that when it says say 7-3 that it was like 4 hours within that not the whole 8 but I wasn't sure    It also sounds like the class is always 9:30-3:30 mondays and the labs start 7am-11am Tuesday and Wednesday then change to longer hours possibly for the clinical on Tuesday and Wednesday

How long are your clinical days

Like I said - the exact start and end times are somewhat at the discretion of each instructor, but they can be as long as 12 hours. In my personal experience, they average about 10.5 hours.

Not true.Im in the program now.You have class 9:30 to 3:30..And clinicals Thursdays and Fridays ..Morning clinicals start at 6 and end at 2 depending on your instructor. And night clinicals is 2ish to 10 ish.We also have weekend clinical hours for those that work weekdays and have weekends off.No one is going to clinicals for 12plus hours. They will tell you all this at orientation and you will do a lot of validations before you will even be ready for your clinical sites.Good luck!

Thank you!! How was it for you as in getting to pick if you did say or night clinicals and you get the option to not do weekends if you don't want to right?

The schedule I described is for Norwalk. What is true for my campus may not be for yours. Norwalk schedule is class 8 am - 10:30 am Monday & Tuesday + one clinical day W/Th/Fr ~6:30 am - ~5:00 pm, but it can be slightly longer or shorter at your instructor's discretion.

Yes you get to pick but make sure you reply to every email they send you about clinical sites or they will just throw you somewhere. Its one of the best programs in the country. You will be an amazing nurse! Also for orientation I remember they did do make up orientation for those who missed it but don't quote me on it.

To people in nursing classes now... how would you generalize how hard the classes are compared to before you get in to the program?

It's definitely a different way of thinking. It's not rote memorization but more so critical thinking. I personally find it easier than say micro or A&P 2 but to each their own. You def have to study. Each exam has 12 subjects on it typically

Can anyone answer this... to get into nursing they use only your nursing classes to calculate your GPA to make sure it's above the 2.7 which you have to uphold throughout the program. But... through your the program do they then add in your other classes that didn't count towards the program towards that 2.7 to make sure it stays above that or from here on out is it just the nursing required prerequisites and nursing core classes?

No they only keep the required classes for the program. It's your NURS courses, anatomy 1 and 2, Microbiology, composition 1 and 2, stats, etc They won't add other previous pre-reqs (like chemistry and biology, etc) to help you keep your 2.7 GPA. If you go below a 2.7 you can be out on probation or can potentially get kicked out of the program.

For the current nursing students how strict are they about missing clinical. I read the handbook and it says you must do a makeup assignment? anyone know?

It's very strict. The first semester is 180 of clinical time alone. You can't miss it.

You can miss maximum 2 days but you have to make it up. If you miss more than 2 days or if you don't make up the missed days...you are out the program
