UCONN CEIN/BS 2018

U.S.A. Connecticut

Hi Everyone!

I saw many other threads from the previous years so I figured I would start a new one for the 2018 cycle. I recently got accepted after applying for the February 17th deadline to my first choice, Avery Point. I just wanted to connect with everyone else that is interested in this program or anyone that is going to be in this program!

I'm really excited to hear from you all and good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear back or applying for the other deadlines! :)

so how many people actually make it off the "wait list"

Well I applied for the January applications and was told by Dorine that I would be pushed to the June applications. Though she never used the term "wait list", I assume I was placed on it. I was accepted to the CEIN program in the middle of July. So I would say hold out hope because sometimes good things can happen. Good Luck!

Hi! I haven't heard back yet either. I called last week and was told to wait until mid week, and if I hadn't heard back, I was encouraged to call the office for more info. Do you know if everyone has heard back yet?

some woman sent me an email saying i was put on the wait list but that's only because i've been reaching out multiple times

Anyone currently in the program...anyone have an apple watch? Can you use it or are you not allowed? Thanks

Hello,

I know some have talked about working full-time while completing this program is near impossible, but has anoyone heard of it being done. I work a full time job and don't think I will be able to bump down to part-time because of financial dependence. Any advice would be appreciated!

I haven't heard back yet either! Applied for August deadline.

it is my understanding that there will not physically be enough time in the day. from what people have told me, they were only able to work one day a week tops :/ but then again everyone's different so who knows

thank you sooo much. Your response was very helpful :)

Also, those waiting to hear back, good luck. I understand how frustrating it is because i definitely think this program is very disorganized and feel like they keep us in the dark for a long time on a lot of things :/

The book list will come out prior to the start of class. There will be bundle options, but you can easily buy (or rent) from Amazon or elsewhere. There were several times I purchased a previous edition for way less money (like $15 rather than $100), and still got As in the class because the information really didn't change all that much. My professor for pediatrics strongly discouraged the older edition, but the information was the same. On the other hand, when my Community Health professor found out some had the older edition, she listed reading assignments with corresponding page numbers for both editions.

I bought my main texts as an ebundle but most classmates went with physical texts. I chose electronic because I liked the ability to have my textbooks with me on my phone, and some of my studying was done in 10 minute intervals when I found a little down time here or there (like waiting for my kid's school bus). Unfortunately, this meant I couldn't sell them back when I was done. At the main orientation at Storrs, there was a textbook representative who walked us through the bundle options.

Does everyone who meets all of the prereqs get in? Or is it more competitive than that?

Unfortunately, not everyone who meets all he prerequisites gets in.

when was the last day for the deposit for the people who just recently got accepted?
