hi-

i believe one of the five nursing schools within the ccc does have nursing courses at night time, which is capital. calculus is not needed as a pre-req. i'm not sure what mat*136/137 is off the top of my head but i'm pretty sure it's just basic algebra, which you need in order to get into chemistry, which you need in order to get into a&p along with your biology pre-req's. you can log onto the ct community colleges home page and click on nursing and it will give you everything you need to know--contact names, numbers, course descriptions, pre-req's, etc. good luck :)

Gateway Community College has an evening program, not Capital. MAT 136/137 is intermediate algebra.

Math 137 is known as pre-Algebra, which is not that difficult if you take it with the right teacher. I took this class @ CCC & the professor I took it with name is Mrs. ****** , she was great!!!. It takes alot of dedication, hard work and studying to get through this class, but, it can be done. Good luck, u can do it!!!:yeah:

I'm starting my first semester in the nursing program at CCC & I'm terrified. I don't know what to expect ,not to mention I'm scared.I almost feeling like I'm going crazy!! I'm constantly on the web researching things that pertain to nursing school, time management, cutting hours at work, and maintaining a family while juggling school. By all means, I consider myself to be a strong individual, who has come a long way and worked very hard to get to this point. However, my fear is starting to over-whelm me. I personally, cannot remember the last time I've been so scared:uhoh3:.I'm new to this site & would like to seek some advise from fellow nursing students or current RN's who succeeded and were able to maintain their responsiblities as a parent, provider, wife/husband etc... Thanks for listening... Scared out my mind nursing student

Gateway has an evening program. Math 137 is intermediate algebra. Good luck with your classes.

i am at st vincents and while math is a requirement you do not need algebra.. mat137 at gwcc is algebra, not calculus.. i would take the math during the summer if at all possible, that way they see you have it and you dont have to worry about it

St Vincent's has changed what math they will accept from the CT community colleges. Prior to this past Spring, they were accepting Math 137 (intermediate algebra), they now will not take that math. You need math 172 which is titled College Algebra.
