I have the sweetest litttle 93 year old lady in my facility right now. She is confused as can be, but loves sharing her life with us. Last Friday we had fish on the menu. She shared how her husband use to go to Canada fishing on his vacations. She said she never went with him because she didn't like to fish...But she didn't mind being left home alone, because he worked so hard and was so good to her that she felt he deserved the break. She told me this probably about 4 or 5 times in the 30 minutes I was with her after her dinner. Didn't hear another word about it the rest of the night....I had put her to bed and was walking out of the room when I heard her sweet little voice say, Boy, If I had known you Canadians were such nice people I would have come fishing a long time ago!!!:balloons::monkeydance:

Awwww, how cute. Thank you so much for posting that. That little story has just made my day.
One thing about the past year that I've spent in psychiatric nursing... I spend most of my time with very young people (mostly 20's), and I really do miss working with the elderly. One of the reasons why I am SO glad to be going back to med/surge nursing.
