Hello you all!!!! Im taking the NET Exam on March 25 and im extremely nervous about it! i dont know anyone who has taken it and i was just hoping that someone could kind of give me the heads up about what to expect! Thanks!

I took the NET exam Feb 29th. I would say the test is fairly easy. Well, the math portion is fairly easy anyways, lol. I hate math and I scored very high on the math portion. If you can multiply, divide, add, subtract, and do fractions and percents you will be fine. It does have some algebra on the exam but it isnt really anything to worry about.

As far as the reading portion take your time and make sure you know what you are looking for. Make sure you know how to indentify the Main Idea, Purpose, Predicting Outcome and the Inference. I'm confident in reading and have taken A&P and Pychology courses in college and still had difficulty with the reading test. The reason why I said that is because this courses require alot of critical thinking skills. As far as the reading portion of the test its a bit tricky. You will feel like the answers are right but find out they were wrong, lol. If I would of focus alot more on the reading part I think I would of did alot better.

Also, when you take the reading rate portion of the test read it slowly. It is not being timed and a you will see it again for the 1st paragraph of question. You also won't be scored on this part of the exam.

I hope this helped, wish you the best!

Yes, it helped alot. Im not really that good at math so i got this book that supposedly prepares u for the NET exam and as i was doing the practice tests i realized that it wasnt the math that i should be worried about it was the reading sections! i did not so good on those so im glad that u warned me about that part of the exam b/c now i know that i need to practice alot more on that part. Thanks alot!!!!!!!! im in arkansas and we have to take the ASSET test as well, did u have to take the ASSET? and if so what should i expect on that?

I was worried about the math portion as well, as I am terrible in Algebra. I brushed up on basic algebra. The test I took contained a bit of algebra but more long division, fractions, multiplication and graphs. I actually scored higher on the math than the reading part, which baffled me! LOL I would recommend brushing up and you'll do fine. As for as the ASSET goes, I have not heard of that- sorry. GOOD LUCK!!!:D

I just signed up with allnurses.com and notices that you posted in March. Have you taken your test yet and what did you score? The information that futurenurse23 gave was a very good account of the test, as I've taken it twice and haven't pass the reading portion with the score to get in a Nursing program as of yet. I retake it again on June 7, with the help of several practice test and a tutor. The reading portion was very tricky, but I gotta get it.

Math was definetly easy for me as I also scored a 90% overall score in math, but a 52% in reading (needing atleast a 57)

I took and i made a 76 overall and the program requires that you make at least a 60 and those scores are combined with the scores from a different test thats required called a ASSET test. Anyway i got a 70 in the math and 82 in the reading and yea, the advice that futurenurse gave me was awesome. I heard that the reading was much harder than the math and sure enough, it was. The key for me on the reading part was to not regress while i was reading ( i learned that from studying a LPN exam book that i had gotten from the local library) and that is what helped me grasp the main points with no problem. I actually got a 100% on the "main idea of passage". I hope this helps you.

I'm glad that you did so well. Would you happen to remember the name of that LPN book you got from the library. I'm trying to find anything that will help.

no I dont im sorry but i heard that you can get a GED book and study the things thats in there and it supposedly has the same things that is on tne NET test. Good Luck.

I just got the results from my NET that I took 3 weeks ago. I passed!!! I felt really concerned about the English, but I ended up doing better in English than the math... go figure. I did run out of reading time towrds the end. I had 3 paragraphs left to read so I just guessed at the last 3 and I must have guessed right. I was overall quite please with my total composite which was 84.

I have been out of formal school for awhile so I was happy to have been accepted into the LPN school. This will be a 2nd career for me. The math and English are identical to the NET Hobet study guide. Master that book and you will do fine. There were about 6 algebra questions. I did not get them all right but most of them.

P.S another male nurse on the way!
