Confused between LVN and BSN

Published

I did apply for a job and during the interview the HR asked me if I have a LVN certificate

I mean I specify in my CV that I'm a BSN graduate and would be willing to take any necessary class that they need. Now I'm confused between the 2, Please anyone explain

Specializes in Trauma-Surgical, Case Management, Clinic.

Maybe the person in HR did not understand what a BSN degree is. Just explain to them that you are a new grad RN seeking employment, but some places will not hire you until you are licensed.

Specializes in Pedi.

LVN is Licensed Vocational Nurse (what it's called in some states). If you have a BSN, you are either eligible to take the NCLEX-RN or you already have and are a licensed RN.

There is no such thing as an LVN certificate. LVNs have licenses issued by the state, just as RNs do. Sounds like the HR person is either confused or was wondering if you had previous LVN experience (although one would assume that if you did, it would be on your resume). What was the job you applied for? Was it an RN position?

Hello, i guess there is some misunderstanding, as a HR in this field, this is the very basic thing of the difference between LVN and BSN. So perhaps you need to talk more when the interview.
