Confused on what LPN school to attend. Help.

U.S.A. New Jersey

So I am utterly confused on what school to attend, who is accredited, who isnt, what school is good, and so on.

I wanted to go to Lincoln Tech but I heard so many negative things about this school, then I decided to go to Dover but again I heard some scary things that have really made me unsure about where to go. I know there are so many schools to choose from but I need to know legitimate schools in Passaic/Bergen county area, a school that will be worth me going to. Does anyone have any advice or incite on any schools? Thanks in advance for your help!

I've been studying for the Nursing Pre-Entrance Exam for 2 months now because I was going to apply to Christ Hospital first. Hopefully I don't need to and I can go to Eastwick. I told the guy that I wanted to go to the Hackensack Branch but he told me that they are completely separate. I don't know why but I will find out. I live in Jersey City and Hackensack will be alot closer

wow! hackensack told me they are the same and asked me if i'd rather go to ramsey. i live in garfield so ramsey is way too far from me. good luck tonight!

k, He said that Eastwick College is a "College" not a medical school. He also told me that there is no rn program at Hackensack and they are transfering to Eastwick afterwards. If you begin at Eastwick it is 6 months wait between the lpn and rn. And they might not take all the credits from Hackensack if your grade is under C. You should speak to Chris from eastwick and find out what's going on. I did the test and I past. So I'm going to take the "big" test next week.

Gillian,

Thanks for the info! Good luck on the test! Did they mention the cost? I wonder if its the same as Hackensack. Its too bad the commute is too far for me. Let me know how you do on the test and what the next steps are for you to get in.

In the Book that he gave me the price is 22,750 for lpn(first year) and 31,000 for rn (second year). They do accept credits from other colleges and second year is when you take your regular college courses for your AAS. My plan is to take weekend classes at the Community College and inbetween the programs. I will transfer them to Eastwick for the second year. You can make a payment plan at your Community College, and then transfer them to Eastwick so they will deduct the cost and book fees. I think that it's $90 per credit( not including the Books)at any Community College. That is no where Eastwick's price which is $314 per credit(including all the fees and books - 22,000 / by 70 credits).

[color=#5f497a]wow!! what classes are you going to be taking at the community college? i didn't know the rn program was that much! i was even thinking of doing an online lpn to rn school, with that price i might be better off!

I already have College Algebra101. I will be taking EngComp101, EngComp II, Bio101(Anatomy & Physiology I), bio102(Anatomy & Physiology II), bio103(micro). You have to check with a school but I think that they will not take more then 30 credits and they will not take Phsych102(not sure, will check).

It is alot of Money. But it is Accredited and It's a private College. They do not take more then 22 students per Program, which means small classes and better education. I researched alot, as you can tell. I have friends that are going to diff. schools and so far on this website I didn't see anyone talking bad about this school. Another thing you have to worry about is the rate of passing the exam. Last year they had 75 percent of students that graduated, passed the LPN exam. Thats dam good.

I'm 31 so I don't have time to wait. For me to get in to Christ Hospital School of Nursing or any Community College Affilliated Nursing school, I have to jump through many Hoops. I have to take Chemistry class because My highschool Chem was more then 10 years ago(so I dont remember anything and it is on the test, for that school). Then take the test and hope that I pass, if I don't pass then I have to wait 6 months to take it again. Then there is waiting for the school to accept you.

That is way tooooo long.

If you are young, you shoud apply for one of the Nursing programs that are affiliated with County School (like Begen or Paterson). They have the RN program that way you don't have to worry about transfering to another College for RN and it will cost you about $20,000 or less for 2years. Most of it, if not all, will be covered by Financial aid.

Gillian, Thanks for the advice! Unfortunetly i'm 27 and graduated 10 years ago so my memory of chemistry is long gone as well. I have to work full time and have a 2 yr old so evening courses are the only way to go for me. to get into bergen community evening nurse courses i would have to take the pre reqs during the day and that would interfere with my job. could you email me that PDF link you put up? its no longer working. ill private message you my email

I went on line to see if I can find some free money or grants. I saw a webpage that said if you r going for a nursing degree u can qualify for loan reembursement like 60 percent. I don't remember the website but if look up on google for a nursing grants u can see that . I did my prereq at bergen and quit, they gave me an 80year old. Teacher so I dropped out of the class and never went back
