Conflicted if I want to move from job that I like to new job with better opportunities?

Hello! I work in a smal hospital that I’ve been at for a couple years. I got an interview at a large hospital that takes higher acuity patients, and it’s a floor that is line with my experience.

I have always wanted to work at this bigger hospital. I did many of my clinicals there. The position I applied for has the fte/schedule I want. However, I am very comfortable at my current job and my work/life balance is better than its ever been. I feel it would make me a better nurse though to work at a bigger hospital with more opportunity for growth or moving around within the company if I want to in the years to come. I’m not saying my current job is boring or easy, I just think I may need a change in scenery? I’m not as motivated as I used to be here. I’ve learned a lot but still crave the experience of a big city hospital, although I know it’s going to be more difficult and possibly more stressful.

What would you do in my shoes? I’m still young and feel it’s the time now to explore and get as much experience as I can?

Sometimes, the devil we know is better than the one we don't.

That being said, I think you should go for it. You've got a couple of years' solid experience under your belt, and while you've got plenty to learn yet, it sounds like you're ready for a change ASAP. If I were you I'd take the risk of trying the other job, especially since you're young and free to explore different aspects of nursing. Good luck!

You never know until you try! I would urge you to consider reflecting on whether you want to move up where you are currently, if not, MOVE!

Go for it. Do not burn any bridges in case you want to return, nursing is a small world!

I’m also in a job with a perfect work life balance where I’m very comfortable but looking to move on because of many of the same reasons you are so I can relate. When I thought about how I might feel in five years if I didn’t change jobs it made me feel down and uninspired. When I thought about moving on I felt excited and hopeful so that’s why I’m actively looking to make a change. I see no reason for you to stay put if you’re feeling the same. However, try and leave on good terms in case you ever want to return. You never know but at least you won’t regret not trying if you find yourself back there someday.
