Concurrent enrollment programs

Has anyone on here been accepted/completed one of the CEP through maricopa nursing? I'm seriously considering applying for the estrella/Franklin Pearce one. I know this is the first semester they have done it (anyone here happen to be enrolled in that exact one?) but I'm looking for input from students who have attended any of the CEPs. I would only need one extra class to qualify for Franklin Pearce and I have a 4.0 GPA and did well on my hesi (98% on English and 78% on math which would've been higher had I realized where the calculator was!!). I'm just wondering what the extra workload is like for the CEP....

is it doable?

Does it add significant extra study time to your schedule?

How many times did you have to apply before you were accepted, and if you don't mind me asking your GPA and hesi? Will I have a good (better than good?) chance of getting accepted into the program?

Any other info is appreciated :)

I was recently accepted into the GCC/NAU program so I can't really tell you what the work load is because as of right now I am only in the first semster of NAU. Block 1 will be different because I will be at GCC and NAU. From what I here from my friends who are in different blocks at GCC NAU has made it to where we don't have exams on the same day as GCC and they work really well with everyone. For the fastrack program it is two NAU classes at a time. Not sure how the Franklin Pierce one works but the work load is well worth it instead of waiting on the wait list. Also coming from a Banner employee, BSN is where it is at. They are not really hiring Associates nurses anymore.

I applied for the first time in May and got my acceptance letter in June. I also got my first choice of program. My hesi scores were good, 92% in Math and 89% in Vocabulary. My GPA 3.3, so you have no worries on getting in. Your GPA is fantastic you should have no problem. Hope this helps!!!

Thank you! When I was looking over the franklin Pearce classes I'd be taking with nursing blocks, they are all online (score! I love online classes) are only 8 weeks long, and are things like world religions and decision making....so that has made me think I could totally do the CEP. Originally I didn't want to because I didn't want extra course load because everyone says how hard nursing blocks are, and I wanted summers off to be free with my kids and to have that break from school but I think it would be worth the sacrifice of summers off...now I just need to attend the CEP info meeting and make sure the FP credits will transfer should I ever want to get my MSN and I'm wondering why az BON site doesn't have FP listed at all but maybe that's just because this is the first semester they are offering it... Any other info or feedback is appreciated!

I was also just accepted into the MCC/UIU program, and it does not begin until October (the UIU course starts then, block 1 of MCC starts in Jan of 2015) so I can't really tell you what the program is like yet. BUT, I can tell you this - on the HESI exam, my English composite score was 96.67% and my math was 92%, which is a cumulative score of 95.5%. My GPA was 3.7. I applied to the program in June and was accepted in July. I had been on the regular Maricopa nursing waiting list already since late 2013. I am not sure that even mattered, though. I really do think these CEP programs are totally the way to go.

Your GPA is great, obviously, and your HESI scores are good too! I think you have an excellent chance of getting in! Keep us posted on that!

And yes, the courses that are thru the universities for the CEP programs are generally all online. BUT - the regular nursing blocks will not be, and these will need significant time dedicated to them. I am sure you already know that!

Best of luck to you!

Hello there, I am in block 1 of the NAU CEP and i love it. There is a lot of work and you will always feel like your not studying enough but it is doable. I think the CEP is a good option because you get a BSN and you don't have to wait on the long list. I would differently look into any of the CEP programs. My GPA was a 3.89 and my hesi was a 90 math, 89 english, but I have to say that means nothing I know people who have got in with lower. Nothing can prepare you for what is about to come. I would enjoy your time with family and friends because when you do start you won't have any time at all. congrats to you that got excepted we are on our way:)
