  1. Hi azgal81! Don't give up! The process is frightening, really. But worth it. Like mrsboots87 said, you happen to be doing this at a time when things are super busy. Classes just started, and they are placing students on the 30th, which they have been preparing for for some time now. Truly, don't give up! Look on the website (nursing.maricopa.edu) and see if you have the pre-reqs done or if you still need to take some more courses. I would try to find a time when you can maybe take a half day or a long lunch, and see if you can get an appointment. But my advice to you is to wait until mid-October. Hope that helps!
  2. I can tell you exactly how much it will cost, IF you want to know! I am doing it in person - but I wish I had done it online. When I spoke with UIU to sign up, she said that the teacher prefers it in person (of course) and I was so giddy and excited about getting in that I just said OK! LOL I think most people are doing it online, and I really wish I had. But it is what it is now. It is Thursday evenings from 5-9:30, beginning October 23rd. So don't stress - you have some time to register. It isn't your fault that transcripts get processed so slowly. Financial aid - you won't be able to do it for this first course, since you will only be registered for 3 credit hours. I tried, it didn't fly. (Like I said, if you want to know, I will tell you the cost - I will give you my email address below if you want to email me.) If by chance you are taking other courses, you might be able to get financial aid. I could not. Working - Right now I am working ALMOST full time, and plan to keep doing just that until we start in January. At that point - I am just going to have to see. I am super lucky and have a very flexible job, but I do need to make some money! LOL I will work as much, or as little, as I can. I am kind of worried about this whole thing. I am still too excited to finally be doing this that I am not letting myself get too nervous about it all. But - we have a lot of work ahead! My email - [email protected] This will be us in, well, like two years! Maybe more like 3!
  3. I was also just accepted into the MCC/UIU program, and it does not begin until October (the UIU course starts then, block 1 of MCC starts in Jan of 2015) so I can't really tell you what the program is like yet. BUT, I can tell you this - on the HESI exam, my English composite score was 96.67% and my math was 92%, which is a cumulative score of 95.5%. My GPA was 3.7. I applied to the program in June and was accepted in July. I had been on the regular Maricopa nursing waiting list already since late 2013. I am not sure that even mattered, though. I really do think these CEP programs are totally the way to go. Your GPA is great, obviously, and your HESI scores are good too! I think you have an excellent chance of getting in! Keep us posted on that! And yes, the courses that are thru the universities for the CEP programs are generally all online. BUT - the regular nursing blocks will not be, and these will need significant time dedicated to them. I am sure you already know that! Best of luck to you!
  4. YAY YAY YAY @RoseAED! I am so happy to have found someone before we start! Yes, I meant Spring 2015. We start that Critical Thinking class in October. Did you do the online or in person delivery of that? Have you registered for that yet? I know - took me forever too to get them all my info. But I think at this point I am officially registered for the Critical Thinking course, now I just have to pay for it! I wonder how many of us there are?
  5. I start at MCC in the spring of 2015 - but I think I have to take a Critical Thinking course through the university beginning in October. I guess UIU is on terms instead of semesters. I am so excited to start, too! And congrats!
  6. I applied in July and found out I was accepted in August. I am not sure if that is a normal time, as they may have hurried it along because they wanted to fill up the UIU cohort. Hope that helps! Good luck!
  7. CCoxStockwell - are you in the Spring 2015 cohort at MCC? I have been looking for people who will be starting this program with me all over this board!
  8. There is now another CEP program w/ Upper Iowa University. You don't have to wait to apply! I think there is one w/ SCC now as well (I got accepted into the MCC Spring 2015 cohort) and applications are still being accepted! I am so happy that they have initiated this program. :)
  9. I was just notified of my acceptance, and was wondering who else out there is in my cohort? I am so excited!!!!!!!!!
