TO tSo I graduated in Philippines Aprl 2010 and currently working as lvn here in California. Last year i applied for Eligibility for Nclex RN and they sent me a letter stating i need to take additional classes for MS & OB. I applied to NY and CGFNS is still working for my paperworks which i think will take a long time to finalized. My goal is to get RN license in NY and endorse it back here in California. I had a coworker that did that but he still studied for MS and OB to get California RN license. Now im confused if i should start those classes RIGHT away or to pass the NY NCLEX FIRST Then request for endorsement. I don't want to start and find out that I don't really need to go back to school to Endorse that license. HELP ME

Even if NY issues you a RN license, California won't let you endorse in without the OB and MS coursework completed. California has very stringent requirements for nursing licensure, and they don't care if the other 49 states are willing to license you--California has no problem telling an applicant "No".
It doesn't matter whether you take the NCLEX in CA or endorse in from NY: like it or not, you're going to have to take those classes if you want to have a California license.
Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear.
you mean it's constant that they will require me to take MS and OB once i endorse my license from NY? Because that's what they required when i first applied for eligibility here in California
You could contact them to be certain, as I'm not the BRN. But based on the links I've posted, it's likely you're going to have to take the courses if you want to work here as a RN.
If it's any consolation, CA has been known to turn down domestic applicants from other states who were missing required classes. So it's not just an international thing.

While you're processing your CVS application for New York, you may contact Dominican University of California for your required courses. They have an IEN program specific for those who are required by the BRN to fulfill deficient courses. They accept applicants regardless of wherever country you came from. E-mail them at [email protected]. You can also visit their school's website and read about how to apply for the program as an IEN. Here's the link:

Good luck.

Yes, no matter what you do you will always take the deficient class. I know two people who were license in NV and Oregon, they endorsed their RN license to CA and they were still required to do those deficient classes. Im a 2009 graduate and an LVN here in CA.
Right now, Im doing MS and OB classes to meet the board requirements. Im not thinking of applying for NCLEX somewhere cause I think its a waste of time since CA -BRN will still ask you to take your deficient units even though you have an RN license elsewhere. All the best!! Goodluck!

prior to receiving a letter from CABON stating you are required to do deficient class were you able to comply with your complete record of clinical cases? I contacted my school and sadly they no longer have the record of my clinical cases. I heard that the board can deny you outright because of this. How true is this do you have any idea?
