Concordia St Paul/Portland ABSN 2021

Published

Hello,

I was accepted into the Spring 2021 cohort and I would love to connect with others and learn more about what to expect in the program.

Best,

Kiki

Hi,

I'm currently in the process of applying for their Summer 2021 Program. How was the process for you?

Hi, I am attending Summer 2021. are you attending as well?

Hi guys! I’m in my third semester at Concordia. Send me a private message and I’ll link up with you ?

Hi @fitlotus! I haven’t posted enough yet to get private messaging on here. I’m wondering you experience since you’re one of the classes to experience Concordia Portland under the new ownership. Are you happy with the program? Do you feel like they are preparing you well for the NCLEX? How are your teachers?

I love it! I’m the last cohort to go through the Portland curriculum, so I can’t speak to the new St. Paul curriculum. This program is for students who are self motivated, so keep that in mind. All your lectures are pre-recorded and a lot of your learning will be done on your own. I prefer that learning style so that’s why it’s worked out for me. They use ATI to prepare you for the NCLEX, which again is a lot of self-study. Right now, ATI is projecting with 99% certainty that I’ll pass the NCLEX on the first try so I’m feeling confident that I’m well prepared. My teachers have been kind and passionate about what they’re teaching.

It’s been a wild ride because of the pandemic. Recently some hospitals have stopped accepting students because of delta, so I lost my preceptorship and will be finishing clinicals by giving vaccines and doing simulations. That’s not specific to Concordia though, nursing schools throughout the nation have been experiencing this. There’s also a preceptor shortage, so that adds to it. My advice going into school right now is to manage your expectations. It’s going to take the health care system years to recover from this. What’s important is that Concordia is committed to ensuring you graduate on time and well-prepared. Hospitals in the area understand this and are spending more time teaching skills to new grads.

overall I would definitely recommend it and I have two friends starting there soon! You’re in and out in 16 months with a BSN, can’t beat that!

Awesome! Thanks so much for your detailed feedback!
