I am thinking about attending the RN program at Concorde in KCMO starting in August but I have heard mixed reviews about going there. I personally know someone who finished the LPN program there but I keep here that there are places that won't hire people that finished school there. Concorde has an RN program that takes about 16 months to finish. If anyone has heard anything please let me know I am really excited about being able to hopefully start nursing school with in the nest couple months.

mb4phillip try going to a reputable RN school like Penn Valley Community College, Avila, Johnson County Community College. These are just some of the ones I know that are reputable schools (There is lots more around town) to get a real RN nursing degree. I think it takes longer to finish a RN nursing degree than 16 mths. You have pre-reqs you have to complete first and than go through nursing school with clinicals. To get a full RN degree, it will take you at least 3 to 4 years, not 16 mths. I am an LPN and I attended Penn Valley's LPN Nursing program, it was 17 mths. Just do research and don't get sucked in!! Good Luck!!

I actually worked with two nurses who attended the RN program at Concorde. Both have since graduated and passed there boards. I'm not sure what Nurse Lil-lea meant by a real nursing degree but they both took that same NCLEX-RN exam Nurse Lil-lea had to take and both passed it. The only draw back is that the program is only approved by the MOBON and not accredited so if you want to pursue your BSN later you will have some difficulty. The program is also very expensive, so if you're going to spend a lot of money on your education, I would spend it on a nationally accredited nursing program. That's my suggestion.

Exactly nursey-shawn1, it is not accredited so why waste your time there if you can not get your BSN. The program is probably ok, but a lot of people that are going to spend that type of money might as well go to an accredited Nursing Program.

Make sure any school you go too is Regionally Accredited and accredited in nursing by the CCNE or the NLN. I had a friend go to Concorde for RT and they are having difficulty transferring credits to get a Bachelors. I chose Penn Valley because of the reputation and lower cost. There are a lot of good, accredited programs, if your going to go in debt or spend the money Concorde charges, make sure you go to a fully accredited program!

One of my friends graduated from Concorde about a year ago, she hasnt had anything negative to say about it as far as the teaching and what she learned. She received her LPN license, but now wants to get her RN degree and she its not as easy for her as she thought. Since its an accelerated program she did not take any pre-req classes so is now having to do that, and also some of the classes the she already took at Concord like her A&P she has to retake. But other than that, no issues with the training she received.
