hi just wondering if anyone attends or has attended concorde career institute

the school is expensive but i am willing to attend so that i dont have to wait on a waiting list

I am 31 years old and dont have time to wait :)

Ive heard about it being a good school in other states but Ive never really heard anything about the one here

in jacksonville

also is the net test hard? im really worried about the math

are the instructors professional? what about the students? are the courses as hard as people say? im not looking for a easy way out im just curious

do you have to take any general ed courses? i have some from the previous college maybe they will let me transfer them

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Have you tried the Fl state forum?

There are books at the library that you can check out for the NCLEX. They have some of the books with a cd and you can take a practice test for the NCLEX on your home PC. Concorde is an accelerated program and when i say accelerated....it's pretty fast. We went thru Human Anatomy in 4 weeks, in the 2nd term you need to make sure you pass a Pharmacology - Dosage Calc test. There is about 15 questions on the test and you are only able to miss 4 on the test. If you dont pass it with an 85% then you have to stop, withdrawl from the program and wait till the next class is ready for Pharmacology - Dosage Cal. Sometimes some wait for 4 to 6 months which pushes your grad date out. Just be careful, it costs alot. The instructors are really good but you will find yourself with no social life and studying for 6 hours or more

Also, you don't need pre-req's for the LPN course. Not sure about the RN course. The instructors are really GREAT!!!

so if you fail a class, they let you take that class again with the next group or you will need to reapply all over again? Are u in for LPN or RN? 4 weeks for Human Anatomy is really short, did you learn anything? What is the passing grade at concorde is it 75 or 80, cause FCCJ is 80.

I'm going to take the NEt for the fall, is the test hard? Do you know anything as far accreditation, because I heard something that people that graduates from Concord can not get a job outside Florida, is it true?

To answer you original question.... Yes I have been to Concorde in 2007 for the LPN program. Most of the teachers are professional, some of them can't control their class and let the "know it all" students basically teach the calss and correct them ALL the time even when the teacher is right they still have to argue their point. The director of the LPN program which I think is now the Director of the RN program was prejudice and ALWAYS took up for the teachers even when the teachers were wrong. She felt that the teachers could treat and talk to the students any way they wanted because they were " weeding out the people who didn't need to be nurses". WHO ARE THEY TO DECIDE WHO SHOULD BE A NURSE AND WHO SHOULDN'T? But don't let my experience discourage you. Just do your research. And try these schools: Kieser and Sanford Brown. Hope this helps.

Well, most of the classes at Concorde you have to pass with 77 or better. Nursing Foundation II you had to had a 85 to pass. If you didn't have an 85 then you have to sit out and wait till the class comes around again and take it over. They really go thru the literature so fast to where at times you would go thru 4 chapters one day....and the next day you would have a test. Anatomy went by in 4 weeks and we had a test on chapters every 1 to 2 days. Math they skim thru and go thru the basics and get into ratio/proportion but that lasted about 3 weeks. 2nd Term (which was 3rd month in the program) you have Pharmocolgy and Med Surg at the same time. You have to have a 77% to pass the class but in Pharm, you have to take a Dosage Calc test at the beginning of Pharm. if you score 85 and below then at the end of the course of Pharm (lasted about 4 wks) then you have to retake it. If you don't pass it at that time (just that particular test with an 85%) you fail the whole course even though you have a 77 or better in the class. You then have to sit out and wait till the class comes around again. Which once they tell you that day you fail, they withdrawl you from the program and you have to reapply along with everyone else. If they don't have a seat for you at that time of enrollment, then you're out of luck. That's for the LPN program. So my friend has to sit out for a bit. She also said that she received a call from Concorde stating they will no longer be available to help her with her Sallie Mae. So she's checking more into the school. If anyone has any info or questions about the school let me know. Good or bad please. Wondering if I made the right decision at this point.

Oh, and as far as transferring credits to other schools...no if you go to Concorde you wouldn't be able to transfer ANYWHERE else, other than Concorde. Now, about accreditation they are accredited. Now, about getting a job outside of Florida....well, with any licensed profession you would have to apply for a license in that state since each state has their own guidelines. Taking the NET is nerve racking but you can find NET books with a cd in it and you can take practice timed tests on your own PC. So try that first so you know what your looking at. To get into Concorde you have to take the NET so not just about anyone can get in for the LPN or RN program. BUT if you want to get into "A" nursing program and you have the money.....then this is for you. Just make sure you can keep up, because they go pretty fast!!! Your first clinicals is about 2 months into the program. They go thru things pretty fast but you'll be surprised what you will retain in that short of time.

I went to concord and I hated it. I agree with everything that "on hold lpn" said. They are a rip off. to me.

so, are you taking RN or LPN? Been that the classes goes so fast, do the teaches tell you on what to focus for the test or do they make you study the whole book, also do they give you notes or is it all straight from the book? Do you recommned this school for RN? So you say that concord classes are not transfered, but what if someone get a nursing degree fron concord, could they take that the degree to a diff school to get the bachelors?

Hello Onholdlpn,

Overall, would you recommend this school? I know that they are expensive but if the teachers are good at what they do and I think I can keep up at their pace. I'm a little worried about the calculation test that may have the possiblity of sitting out the program.

Do you know anyone who completed the program? What were the class schedule like? Attending this program, do you think someone can work part time and attend the school? How much is the LPN program and how long is that program?

Thanks in advance,
