hi everyone!!!

im a fresh grad from the philippines and now a registered nurse but is not yet working as a nurse..im done with the CES for illinois and has just submitted the form for the NCLEX aplication..

I heard that they only accept TOEFL in illinois...Do I need to take the TOEFL eventhough im done with the CES? does TOEFL have a validity?

considering i pass nclex, hopefully, :)....is the license lifetime?

What are the chances of a Filipino nurse being hired in a hospital if she doesnt have hospital experience yet?

what other options can i make if it would take a while before i get hired in a hospital?

tnx a lot and....:nurse::wink2:

I am moving your post to the International Nursing forum, which is where we ask that all questions and discussions about immigration and practicing in another country be posted. There is lots of information about licensure and immigration to the US already posted in the International Nursing forum -- please have a look at some of the existing threads. Here are links to a few existing threads of particular interest, to get you started:

If the BON requires an English exam then you have to meet their requirements before they will give eligibility. Would also consider gaining experience either in your own country or another as with retrogression you are looking at years before obtaining a work permit for the US. As mentioned in the previous thread A good read in this forum is recommended. There are also some threads on Illinois so try the search facility and check them out

Even though you have the CES or have applied for it, there is no application for the NCLEX exam, it actually does not exist. You are going to be applying for licensure as an RN in that state and will need to meet their requirements.

All English exams have a validity of two years. IL will accept your application for licensure if you have trained in a program that was 100% in English, but you are still going to need to pass the series of English exams to be able to get a visa to work in the US.

Take the time to do some reading on this forum. And if you are looking at five years before a chance at a visa, without any experience by then, you will have issues getting thru immigration as well.
