I have, for many years, worn custom made Jobst compression stockings. I have to remove my Jobst stockings several times a day because my legs become fatigued from wearing them. You have to have a doctor's order for them and a pocket full of money! However, I can have all kinds of comfort fitting features constructed into them. You can also buy a lower compression Jobst stocking off the rack. They run along the same level of compression as a TED stocking. These are much different than what the hosiery industry call their support nylons because they are actually exerting an external pressure against your leg to push the blood into the internal blood vessels in your limb. You are wise to do this to slow the progression of varicosities.
The most important thing is making sure you find the right fit.
that's the main issue im concerned about. nursemates has so many different pressures: firm compression (11-13mmHg), moderate (8-10mmHg), and medically correct compression (15-20mmHg)...too bad i can't try any on before i buy! haha
