Commuting, which schedule works best?

If you had to commute aprox. 50 mins one way to work, occasionally through alot of snow, and had no other options for work....what schedule would you choose for family friendliness & sanity?

A) Monday-Friday 8hrs shifts, mainly days sometimes evenings

Or

B) 12hs shifts, 2 Days 2 Nights, 5 off in that order.

I had a 60 minute commute during nice weather and 90 minutes during winter when it was snowing. I hated the drive in the dark with blowing snow. I drove 5 days a week, had no life and only lasted 6 months. I am sure there are pros and cons to both. Good luck with your decision.
