Commute Time

Hey everyone!

Just wondering how long (miles/time) the drive into work is. I live in PA and I am considering a commute no longer than 1hour and 15 mins each way.

Thanks for your input!!!

The maximum commute time I'm willing to travel is 35 minutes, anything beyond that I think is excessive, personally speaking. To me it comes down to the car maintenance, gas (I get 18 MPG on the highway), and putting myself at risk while driving longer distances. Not to mention 81 gets horrible traffic and constant accidents.

I live in PA as well.

My current commute time varies...I work from home and must travel to different facilities daily in my role as a case manager.

My longest commute was 120 miles each way. I was a factory worker back then, and lacked the education or skills to obtain decently paying employment in the city where I was living at the time.

However, I wouldn't take a 120-mile commute today unless I was on the imminent verge of homelessness.

My commute is 45 min. I am considering applying to a bigger hospital in the same system as my current one, but it's an hour away. Having a really hard time with that one. Where to draw the line?

My commute is a 35-45 min drive from home. However, my facility pays for me to use the local "park and ride" which is a bus that takes me downtown to the rail that will take me to my job. With all the stops they make and everything else included, the commute is stretched to about an hour. To me the long commute is worth it because I save loads on gas and wear and tear on my vehicle, I have the opportunity to meet other professionals, and I dont have to fight the crazy traffic of the large metropolitan city I live in. I can read/nap/meditate/relax on the way to work and mentally prepare for the next 12 hours.

5 minutes.

Longest was 25 minutes.

HH- varies, but I won't take cases more than 30 minutes away.

My commutes since I have been a nurse were 25 minutes, 10 minutes and now 5 minutes.

The 25 minute commute wasn't bad. It gave me a chance to decompress after my shifts and just sit and listen to music on my ride home. It was a sucky commute in bad weather though. My current job has snow days (school nurse) so no worries in that department anymore!!
