Thought I would start a new thread on my next class coming up. I know Delta...you have already taken this class, and have commented elsewhere about some of the requirements.

Any words of wisdom you and others can share whould be appreciated.

Okay...just finished all my statistics for my city and my state. Just need the national stuff now. The work is already done for you...you just have to plug it in. Not that bad.

I finished mine too. The national stuff is harder to find. All our ours should be the same for that part.

I'm a bit confused about the first assignment. The basic assignment is apparently

Using the listed websites and others, gather information about your county and compare it with your state and national numbers.
The instruction state that at least part of the assignment is comparing local/state/national demographic data that includes health statistics such as infant mortality and death rates as well as "economic" and "statistical" data (not defined). However, the instructions also state to
review some epidemiological data related to the National Health Objective that you have selected
Unfortunately, they don't say whether this is also supposed to be included in the comparisons.

Anyone get any clearer instructions in your sections?

Anybody have any luck with the death statistics? I'm having a hard time finding those. Maybe WHO website will be better?

My take on that comment........reviewing the epidemiological data related to the NHO you choose during this assignment will give you a better picture. It will help determine what health risk your area suffers from the most. I do not believe it is incorporated into this collection. Reviewing the death rates section should assist with this too.

Got a welcome to community letter from the TA ( a known TA that I LIKE) - and she mentions you must do a 2-3 paragraph synopsys of your findings and introduce your chosen topic - will go back and look at exactly what she wrote. I just did a drive by of if and noticed who my TA was. I am actually having issues finding all the necessary information. Maine - go figure .. LOL

I have some NDA on mine...rural MT! I thought the assignment was 1-2 paragraphs about our chosen topic. Look at the data and summarize how it relates to our chosen area. Anybody?

Went back and actually READ the memo ... lol. You are correct. I was blindsided by my TA happyness and didn't pay any attention to what she wrote

Holy Conflicting Data Batman!! Talk about wide disparities depending on where you look for data ... good grief!

I know. Our TA noted that in one of her tips. Just fill in the blanks, lol!

I found all of mine except syphilis and at this site Age-adjusted Heart Disease Death Rates by Race and Sex (this one of the sections within the michigan site) for michigan.
