Community Health...who has taken or wil be taking?

Thought I would start a new thread on my next class coming up. I know Delta...you have already taken this class, and have commented elsewhere about some of the requirements.

Any words of wisdom you and others can share whould be appreciated.

Road trips are the best! I have lots of experience :lol2:

This class is A LOT OF busy work. But aren't they all. I did learn a lot about my community, so I can't complain too much. Just start paying attention to stuff. How diverse is your community? Any homeless shelters in your area? How about food pantries? Where is the nearest clinic and what services do they provide. Know stats about your county/city/and stat (ex. AIDS/birth and death rates/etc). Have to fill in this grid that pretty time consuming.

This seems very close to the 445 class, culture and diversity. I feel like have had to do that already. I think that is why they are combining these 2 classes.

I thought they were combining 416 and 445. If you could finish faster by taking those 2 courses separately would you? Or is better to wait and take the combined course in the fall? I hope they don't make it harder!

4510 Professional Nursing Practice is a combo of 300 (transitions) and 335 (legal)

4520 Health Assessment and Promotion is a combo of 310 (assessment) and 325 (interventions)

4580 Leadership in Nursing is a combo of 445 (Strategic) and 416 (Management)

Community is 4540 and Diversity is 4570 - they aren't being combined

That's what I thought. Guess I'll hold off and take 4580 and just be more patient. :confused:

Bump up! I am taking a statistics classwith the first week of Community Health. Only difference is my statistics is through my local University and it is 8.5 hours per day for 5 days total. I don't know what to expect. I know we need to have our laptops and have the Excel program on it.

Can someone that has already completed this class give me a heads up on the first week reading assignment? "Reading" the entire book for gerontology almost killed me ... would like to get a head start on this class.... lol - read while I am sitting OUTSIDE in MARCH in MAINE!!! 77 degrees today - unheard of.
