Hi,I'm considering a position at a CHS hospital (corporate, ugh). Admittedly, I do smoke marijuana occasionally (once a week at the most). Does community health systems conduct random drug testing? I don't want to live in fear of losing my job. My last employer did a pre-employment screen, and that was it.
Thanks so much!
It looks like they have a handbook published online. Check out page eight of the "code of conduct" section. It says you can get high every day and not to worry about it ...or the opposite of that.
Here's the bottom line...if you smoke marijuana, even just 52 times per year, you're putting yourself at risk for exactly what you fear as far as employment is concerned. Even if the company doesn't do random drug testing, any accident or injury incurred by you will result in a drug test. It's a crap shoot...roll the dice and see.

You could get tested for something someone else did. The narc count was off? Test everyone who had access today!
Any healthcare employer could randomly test you at any time, even if current or past employees of this system report back that they were never tested. I, myself, have never been randomly tested in over 10 years in nursing and I have only been pre-employment tested once; however, it could happen any day.
