This is a good thread, I will be looking these drugs up to see what they do

There are two drugs used when they are going to intubate a pt. One of them is sux and the other begins with an "A", can anyone tell me what that other drug is? Thanks,

Nancy

succininylcholine is the first line paralytic

Are you sure it's not VA? Vancuronium, long term paralytic

Or it could be ativan as a precursor to the succs

Specializes in NRP, FP-C, CCP-C, CCEMT-P.

Perhaps they meant Amidate, another name for Etomidate.

Holy Jesus you people need to learn to spell the names of these drugs if you're going to be giving them.

Specializes in Critical Care, ED, Cath lab, CTPAC,Trauma.

My pet peeve....that is why pharmacology needs to be in all nursing programs. But the thread is 6 years old.

Hell, the worst person I've encountered for spelling and pronunciation of drugs was my nursing pharmacology instructor. Meta-pro-awl is not a beta blocker.
