Commissioning questions

I'm hoping someone can help me out with these questions, as I am set to commission as a 1st LT. In the Air Force within the next month.1. Is there a particular location the commissioning ceremony should take place?2. What is the appropriate attire? Blues or collared shirt and slacks? I was thinking civilian clothes because I haven't been taught the proper way to wear the service blues uniform. However, I would love to have my bars pinned on my uniform by my husband and dad. Just not sure what's allowed.3. After commissioning how long does it usually take to receive orders. It's my understanding that everything comes to a halt without them? Thanks for taking to time to answer my questions, I appreciate it:)

Congrats! It is an exciting time for you!.

I commissioned at Luke AFB by the Chief Nurse who interviewed me. He had it in a conference room and asked in anyone available. I was surprised. I thought it was just going to be me and my kids with my recruiter as we did my oath. Instead it was a room full of people all cheering me on. It was really awesome and a bit overwhelming. I wore a blue blouse and tan slacks. Just wear something that looks professional and feels good. It's a really brief process, but a change in your life.

If you have a COT date, the orders will come through. Maybe at the last minute, but they will. Just prep the best you can.

Thank you for your response. My uncle(retired Army) will do the commissioning, do you think they will allow him to do it on an Air force base? Or should I just have him do it at my home? Sorry for all the questions but I'm so confused how this whole process is supposed to play out. I know it's very special and I will cherish it for a long time.

Hey. I was told of where I was stationed and when I go to COT but...my recruitor says that I have to wait to be scroll approved from Congress. Did you have to go thru anything like this?

I want this to already happen for me but, as with this entire process, if feels like it is just one big hurry and wait scenario.

When do you go to COT?

They will allow it on a AF Base. They really do not care who does your commissioning as long as it is a officer.

Yes I also had to wait for scroll approval. It took about a month or so. I am scheduled to go to COT on Feb. 28

Yes I will be heading to Montgomery also. I received the ok to commission from my recruiter this past Tuesday. I still have to send her all the information (location, personal info of person doing the commissioning and the date I selected).
