Has anyone been to Commission to Officer Training for the USAF that can give me any information about it? Things to expect. Helpful things to bring along? I am nervous about the physical aspect of COT. What is it like? Also, Is anyone going to COT January 11th 2010 (next week Monday)? This is when I leave and it would be cool to speak with someone who is also going then. Thanks!

Hi Sandy!! I'll be joining you next week!! There's quite a few people on this board that will be there...I'm sure they'll speak up!! Keep reading around this site. There have been alot of discussions about COT. Here's the COT website if you haven't been there already http://www.au.af.mil/au/holmcenter/OTS/COT-RCOT/index.asp. Also, check out http://www.airforceots.com. We also have a facebook page...search for AF COT Class 10-02. Hope that helps a little. See you next week!!
Hey! Thanks for responding. I requested to join the Facebook page. Are you ready for COT? I am really worried about the physical aspect of it seeing as I can hardly do 2 push-ups and my upper body strength is a mess. How is your physical ability? Im just curious if anyone else is in the same boat as I. I have been training for a few months now and I see alot of improvement but its not coming quick enough. Hope I dont fail... eek:confused:
I am in the same boat Sandy!! I've been training for the last 6 months and have also made alot of improvements, but I doubt I'm up to par!! Everyone tells me it's different when you're doing PT with alot of people. I'm hoping that will motivate me to run faster and squeeze in more pushups and situps. At this point, I'm really only running a little under a 12 minute mile. You won't fail!! We'll be the people with the lowest PT scores together!! :)

I ran the 1.5 in 16:40. By then end of COT I could run 3 miles in 30 minutes. You don't do a whole lot of PT but you do a lot of running on the track for 30 minutes at a time. You'll be fine.

Don't stress too much about PT scores. Throughout your career your scores will fluctuate up and down. For instance, I usually score >90% on my test--max push ups and sit ups with 1.5 mile run about 13 minutes (this is by old testing standards BTW). Up until now we've tested only 1X per year and my test month was June. I run MUCH better in warm weather than cold weather. Lucky me, this month I get to test because we've now gone to the 6 month testing schedule. I run terribly slow in the cold and I just had surgery a month ago. I did a mock test and let's just say I did not make >90%. Life goes on! I have a chance to improve next time.
And for those who have heard that PT is no longer mandatory in the AF, just pray that your commander agrees with that. My commander thinks that mandatory PT is important so guess who get's to keep going to mandatory weekly PT? Yep, the lucky winner it me (and the rest of my squadron). Don't get me wrong, I like to stay fit--it's part of my job--but I don't like getting up early on my day off to report for PT.
