Combat Medical Badge (CMB) as a credential?

Just wondering if I can use the Army's Combat Medical Badge (CMB) that I earned in Iraq '03-'04 as a credential behind my name?  Example: John Doe, BSN, RN, CEN, CMB.  I currently work at a VA facility, and it would be nice to be recognized by fellow veterans who know the significance of the CMB.  Thank you!

No, you can't.  And it isn't about you being recognized by the veterans.

Hi Elzonian,

As an Army veteran of many years I am of aware of the skill and absolute dedication that is required to achieve the Army Combat Medical Badge. I was not in the medical field during my service but went to nursing school after I discharged. I have also served as a civilian nurse at Walter Reed caring for wounded soldiers in the IMCU. The medics that I worked with were outstanding especially the ones who had deployed to Iraq and the patients really bonded with them.

I have worked at a few VA facilities as a nurse as well. VA patients really appreciate a caregiver who can relate to them. Unfortunately, there are not enough VA nurses who have also served. When I was establishing a rapport with my VA patients I would ask about when and where they served and then tell them a little about my service. It is likely your patients will recognize that you are a veteran before you tell them.

Anyway...I want you to know that I see you and thank you for your service!
