Hello,
I'm new to the forums and am looking at going back to school to become a nurse. I graduated from OSU with a BA, and thus am very interested in the CSCC online program. I have several questions and was hoping that someone here could help me with (the advisors have yet to return my numerous calls!)
What were the pros and cons of the program?
How many days a week did you have to go to campus for clinicals or labs?
Where the clinicals the same days each week?
Do you think it would be possible to work full or part time during the program if you only had nursing classes to take? (I will be finished with all of the non nursing courses by the time I finish the program...)
Thanks!
Kate
Yes it is consecutive. We will go through the summers. CONGRATS on getting in. I guess that we will be in it together.
Cassy dont worry about the book. I honestly do not even need it back. I am done with it. And as far as I know the next time that they will do applications is in January. I could be wrong about that though. They usually do the app period from around Jan 10th to March something but you really need to get in that first day if you can. Does that help any? Again I will see if I can find out more specifics.
I believe all the programs in the greater Cincinnati/Dayton area have at least a 2 year wait. I'm not sure about the hospital based programs except that Christ requires you to reapply as they do not keep a waiting list. UC has two years and then it's a challenge to get into clinicals. Sinclair now has about a 2 1/2 waiting list.
I solved the waiting problem by going to PN school. I graduated 2 weeks ago and once I take the NCLEX and pass I can get into Sinclair's program once they have 10 people ready to take the LPN/RN transition class. I've gone ahead and signed up for a couple on non-nursing classes I need to get them out of the way so I can concentrate on nursing courses. Of course, it helped that I already have a degree in that it cut back even more on the classes I have to take.
I am on several waiting lists and have been for a year or so. I will be done in not much more time than it would have taken me to just have gotten in via the traditional route....

HI!!!!!!! I desperately need to get your NET book back to you. Let me know when and where. I didn't realize you got in for spring and not the fall -- whoops!
Since I got shut out of the MULT classes this fall, I will hopefully take them this winter. I hear different things from everyone. Can classes be in-progress when you apply? If not then I'll have to apply at the tail end of the application window just to get my foot in the door. :-(
