Columbus GA New Grad Wondering about Salary.

Published

I was just wondering what New Grads with an RN BSN will get offered as pay in Columbus, GA. I've been noticing that salary varies widely all over the U.S. and figured I would ask this in the Georgia section.

I've also noticed that RNs are complaining about not getting jobs around the country because of not having experience. How is this in Columbus,GA?

Does anyone have any thoughts on St. Francis vs. Columbus Regional? I was thinking about volunteering during this summer before nursing school just to get acclimated with the hospital setting, because I've only ever worked in a restaurant. LOL

Any advice would be appreciated!!

Nobody from Columbus GA around here?

Hi, my name is Trina and I live in Columbus, GA. Both hospitals are great, but St Francis is a better hospital. Columbus Regional Have more opporunities. Cols. Reg is a Trauma 1 hospital. They also offer reimbursement if you want to further your education. I guess it also depends on what specialty you want t work in. Columbus Regional may pay a little more.

Finally! Someone answers:) Thanks so much! I noticed that St. Francis has positions opened for new grads, but at Regional they mostly all say one year of experience.

Do you happen to know what new grads are being offered at either?

Is there a night shift differential? I would definitely want to work at night. I am more comfortable working nights. I am NOT a morning person.:D

Hi, I'm from Columbus as well and also a new grad from Augusta. Trina is right, St. Francis is a much better hospital to work for, but b/c of that there are more job opportunities at Columbus Regional. I actually just applied for 2 jobs at SF yesterday and havent heard anything. I applied for 4 jobs at CR and w/in 45 minutes (no lie!) I got a phone call to schedule an interview.

It's a toss up between just working somewhere for the experience, or staying there long term. If you're looking for long term I would NOT recommend CR....

Why wouldn't you recommend CR for long term? Have you interviewed with them yet?:)

My mom works for them and has for 15+ years and I did my volunteer hours there. They are severely understaffed and treat their employees like crap (thus the reason they have no staff), they also pay the lowest in the area.

I did set up an interview for next week and plan to go, however it's absolutely my last choice for a job. :)

I can say that Columbus regional will pay for you to further education. They have a reimbursement program for their employees to advance. Try hughston or doctors hodpital they are good as well. The better of the two would be hughston.

NurseLindsay, I will say take a position with the hospital. Getting experience matters and from there you can go anywhere. I use to work for Cols Regional, I didn't think the employees were treated badly. Experience is what you want to get.

Is anyone familiar with the pay for st francis?

I heard this second hand from my someone that told me his fiance just graduated from CSU with a BSN and got a job in the ED making 26 an hour. I didn't ask details like if that was with shift differential or not. Have you heard anything?
