Hi everyone!
First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone who has been accepted into the next starting cohort for this program!
I am starting this super early because I have already begun to freak out lol.
Is anyone applying for the MDE MDE/DNP or MDE/PHD program for 2017?
This is my dream program !!
I am prepping for the GRE at this point which I am taking in August. It has been a long arduous road for me to say the least and I am ready to send my app off with a prayer. Any advice from current/previous students of this program or applicants welcome! And to my fellow applicants what other programs are you applying to? And most importantly good luck to everyone. The application opens August of 2016

yup. It's a tricky thing - but you're right that it would probably be a mistake not to do it. If only because I bet admissions is excited about having a new toy and will be sad if people don't use it. But I do think it will be a good tool. Just spend an hour or two one day practicing on camera answering some random questions and get comfortable with where to focus your eyes...
Any advice ladies..I got my MS in May and have recent letters from my professors. But those letters are geared towards med school and not nursing. Should I submit via Interfolio anyway or request them to change it up a bit so I'm not chucked in the trash for having letters that mention med school? Everything else in my app is strong.
Hey! Yea you should definitely tell them to change it up. I think the admission people or the ones reviewing the applications will probably be confused. Talking about nursing would make you a better candidate, because it is nursing school and I think they want you to know you are aware of the difference and why you have picked nursing over med school.
There's semi-conflicting info re: the video essay, and I'm not sure which to go by.
The application makes it seem like the questions are secret:
As we continue to round out the application. We feel it necessary to create more ways for you to impact your application. With a limited timetable, we offer the opportunity to showcase your passion and drive via these video essays. You will have 45 seconds to prepare for the questions and 2 minutes to provide your answer to both questions. We want to see how you think on your feet. Good Luck!
While the information page gives the questions:
You will have the option to submit a video essay (in addition to the other essays). The video essay will be comprised of two questions, and you will have 2 minutes to answer both questions. These optional essays are an opportunity to supplement your application and to display your enthusiasm and passion. In the video essay, you will address the following prompts: (1) Please tell us about a time that you have overcome an obstacle in your life, how you dealt with it and what you learned from the experience. (2) Please tell the admissions committee something about yourself that is not apparent in your application and that you think would influence your decision.
So those are the 2 questions that we will have to answer. It's not a surprise. She did say we will have 2 attempts to do it.
It's to get to know us a bit better and even though it's optional it's recommended :)
otherwise it really seems like they look at you as a whole and not just as a high GPA or GRE scores, which is what I like. She was very nice and helpful, got a lot of information!
They offer peer mentor programs, tutoring, student activities, etc. seems like a community of people who are there for each other. I really liked that too!
So good luck everyone!!

@Larakg I'm the worst at talking to a camera and/or being put on the spot, but I feel like even though it is optional there is no way I can NOT do it... sigh.
