Columbia University MDE 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone who has been accepted into the next starting cohort for this program! :D

I am starting this super early because I have already begun to freak out lol.

Is anyone applying for the MDE MDE/DNP or MDE/PHD program for 2017?

This is my dream program !!

I am prepping for the GRE at this point which I am taking in August. It has been a long arduous road for me to say the least and I am ready to send my app off with a prayer. Any advice from current/previous students of this program or applicants welcome! And to my fellow applicants what other programs are you applying to? And most importantly good luck to everyone. The application opens August of 2016 :D

That was beautiful. Thanks for sharing some of your experience. What about scholarships? How much is everyone entitled to? Also what is the rent and location like?

Hey RT_2B_NP , I am with you! I really hope to get some good news from Columbia. I have checked for different scholarships opportunities for years. Yes years! There are different scholarships out there. I think Columbia will offer a financial aid package a few weeks after we get an acceptance notification. Check out the following sites maybe you will find something of value: NYS Nursing:Nursing Education and New York Nursing Scholarships & Grants Programs for NY Student Nurses . Sending good vibes!

Okay, I will. thanks for sharing.

Hi futurenp_isme! I love your blog. Many of us, if not all, are anxiously waiting to hear back from Columbia. I would love to read about a possible clinical rotation in Upstate NY or about a travel abroad opportunity from a current MDE student. Lastly, does Columbia have pre-recorded lectures for students? Thanks :D

Hi all,

I have been on the side lines since September reading all the comments and I have finally decided to post. I myself applied for the MDE portion and as the days go by I am so nervous. I literally in my emails everyday, any chance I get.

I wish you guys best of luck and we have roughly a week and a half to go

Best of luck!

Oh boy this wait is killing me every single day I check my email and tell myself that I got this. Hopefully by next Wednesday or Thursday we will get emails with positive news

ahhhhh the anticipation is killing me! I was fine up until this week and now my anxiety is through the roof knowing I'll hear back soon! good luck everyone!

This wait is causing me to postpone a ton of life decisions. My housing and job situation are all up in the air. Is anyone else going through something similar? :dead:

Same here!! There are so many things I would need to put in perspective when that time comes. I am thinking should I downgrade my living situation for a year? I would not be working, do I really need a car? Just thinking about ways to cut cost. But I can't do or say anything to my employers until the emails are out. It's driving me crazy!!

Hey P_2nurse2b, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Its nice to know that I am not the only one juggling a million things, and prolonging making any final life decisions . Even though your car question sounded rhetorical, I thought I would still share my personal experience with having a car in Manhattan (For anyone who doesn't live in NY but stumbles across this thread). As a Manhattan resident, I have only needed a car to visit relatives and to go shopping outside of the city (NJ and Westchester ccounty). Its expensive to keep your car in a parking garage and finding parking in the city can be challenging. Even though parking garages are expensive , there are a few parking garages near CSON on Audubon Ave with 10-15 dollar specials if you park your car before 7am. The specials vary. * blurry Silverlining* This year the first Friday in February falls on the 3rd. Does anyone think we will hear from Columbia during the first week of February? Based on previous years they have sent emails on the 6,7 and 8th of February. It would be great if we hear from Columbia during the first week of February, like someone on this thread had mentioned.

I was wondering that myself! Did they mean by the first week of February as in the end of week (Friday, Feb. 3rd) or Feb. 7th?

I just want to know already. I have been checking my email constantly since the end of last week. I jump at every new email I get and am so, so disappointed when it's not *the email* :(
