Columbia University MDE/DNP - Summer 2026

Published

Did a search and haven't seen this thread yet. Thought I would get it going! Submitted my application November 4th and now just waiting to hear back.

I agree... I think that's what they must mean because I submitted over 6 weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully it's not a bad sign, just 4-6 weeks from 11/17. I feel like I rushed to submit for no reason now haha.

Alum here: I applied well before the priority deadline and didn't get my acceptance until Feb 2nd and I know many people in my cohort got theirs even later. CUSON is notoriously disorganized administratively and has been for years. Try to enjoy your holidays because you won't be hearing back for a bit!

While I don't like what you are saying (LOL) I really appreciate someone with experience chiming in. Thank you!

Appreciate the insight.  The only thing I would note is that the priority deadlines in previous cycles was later (e.g., last year it was Dec 1st) so hopefully applicants hear back sooner in this admission cycle. Feb would be problematic as I've been admitted to other programs that require a commitment beforehand. I've already asked for a month extension. Not sure they will accommodate an extension till February.

Ours was around the same time as yours (I think ours was 11/15). Most cohorts before me and after me heard back end of January or early February. CUSON really marches to the beat of their own drum and many people had to decide whether or not to give up their seats in other programs while they waited for CUSON.

Hold up, can you really lose placements in other programs even if you were to place an enrollment deposit?  I thought that graduate programs have to abide by the April 15 deadline for graduate admissions before "pressuring" an offered candidate to hasten their decision on where they will be attending?

Otherwise I absolutely understand the frustration and the anxiety inducing nature of playing roulette on the hopes of a program you're waiting on offering you admission while having to give up "guaranteed options".

If you put down a deposit you are good. The deposit is $1000.00 which is not the end of the world.  I'm willing to lose the deposit money to secure a spot in case doesn't work out at other programs but would like to avoid if possible.

100% I would do it as well for one program or too that's very high on my list.  Moreso I'm a little disappointed that graduate nursing programs don't have to follow the April 15 rule that many PhD and doctorate programs have to.

Would you say that the disorganization is mostly in admissions, or has it affected the rest of your experience with CUSON?

Do you remember how big cohorts are on average?  Would especially like an answer for FNP DNP, but any number for any program I will happily take a ballpark estimate on.  I've been doing my digging on this and can really only find mostly conclusive numbers on the CRNA cohort (30-35 out of *whelp over 300 applicants from what I've seen).

I had to send my final official transcript with my pre-reqs and dropped a line to let them know it was on the way, while simultaneously asking about when to expect decisions. Bahahaha

Hi! Just wanted to clarify. Did Columbia specifically ask you to send an official transcript at this stage?

When I submitted my application, I only uploaded unofficial transcripts, and my portal shows them under uploaded documents, but still shows a red "X" with status "Awaiting" for official transcripts.

I was under the impression that official transcripts are usually required after an offer, so I just wanted to make sure I am not missing anything. Thanks!

No not missing anything. I happened to be done with my pre-requisites so figured I'd submit it.
