Thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread for prospective applicants to Columbia's ETP program starting Summer 2011. I was going to apply last year but passed on it in favor of working for another year.
Applications are due November 15, 2010! Right around the corner ...
Anyone else preparing for this also?
Yay I'm so relieved to know that I got in somewhere! Congrats everyone! Has anyone tried to log on to the accepted ETP students site? My application UN/PW aren't working for it. Ideas?

@Cartwheel: I am considering Upenn and Emory and still have to hear from BC. They are all great programs and I like them for all different reasons so I do not know how I am going to make this decision. I am hoping that visiting all the schools will help me make up my mind. I love Columbia's program but I am not sure if I want to live in the city and the cost of living in NY is much higher. Are you definitely going to Columbia?
I think that they will be sending out a different username and password for the accepted students page. I can not get in either but I think that is requires a username versus the pin we have now which is just for the application page.
@NurseGradHopeful - Those are all great programs. BC is ranked especially well for the pediatrics specialty. I think you'll make the right decision once you visit and get a better feel for each school's program. I was accepted to Hopkins and as much as I would LOVE to live in NY, Hopkins' program just feels right. Good luck to you in your decision - it's a good problem to have!
ACCEPTED into FNP! YAY! My first acceptance letter! load off my shoulders. I was literally jumping up and down running around the house and calling everyone! LOL.
Waiting for a few more schools before I make my decision... I'm from california and it'll be hard for me to leave this beautiful 70 degree weather!!
Good luck to those who are wait-listed!!!
Hi farful,
I grew up in the suburbs north of Manhattan and the commute to 168th St would only seem manageable with a car. It's a pretty quick drive- when there's no traffic... The commuter rails (from Westchester county, Conneticut and the northern suburbs) stop at 125th St in Harlem, but on the east side so then you need to take a bus across town, and then the subway up to Washington Heights. Eeek.
Is a car commute possible? I just figured car + NYC was a bad idea.
I was thinking it might actually be easier to go down all the way to grand central then switch to the subway and ride north...
I do realize living in Jersey might be easier (NE Corridor to Penn station, then 1/9 line north), but I have some family in CT so....

WilliamsRower-
Yes, I got your email about Yale, but by that time I was so busy getting ready for my interviews because my in-person interviews were back to back weekends and in between them I was working full-time; every minute I wasn't working I was "studying" for my interviews or stressing over what to wear! The Yale interview ended up going great actually, so I am waiting to hear from them - hopefully by March 4th! I am also still waiting to hear back from UCSF who won't let us know until April
