Columbia University ETP 2011

Published

Thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread for prospective applicants to Columbia's ETP program starting Summer 2011. I was going to apply last year but passed on it in favor of working for another year.

Applications are due November 15, 2010! Right around the corner ...

Anyone else preparing for this also? :clown:

I just got the e-mail that I got in too (Psych/Mental Health)! It's 8 am here in CA and I probably just woke all my friends and family up by texting or calling them with the news :p. I also am unsure about whether I will be accepting - waiting to hear back from 2 other schools - but I am planning on going to the "Visit Day" they mentioned in the email since I've never seen the campus. Anyone else going? I guess we should start looking into financial aid now  !

Congrats to those who got in. I didnt make it. Those who got in, can you post what your GPA is so I can have an idea of what GPA Columbia takes? Thanks.

Hi Hexum-

I am sorry to hear that, but keep your head up. There are many other great programs! My undergrad GPA was 3.7, and my GPA for the science prerequisites was 4.0. I hope you find this helpful.

Tanya

congrats to everyone that got accepted!! unfortunately i will be unable to join everyone this year!!

Did anyone notice that they made a mistake on the decision letter with the years? Mine says that I'm waitlisted for the 2010 class. AH!

Ha ha...probably just a copy and paste error....:)

Hey Tanya! Congratulations! Not sure if you got my email back about Yale, but I look forward to meeting you on March 4th. I'm looking forward to learning more about their psych program -- you heard anything new?

Any other psych people accepted out there?

I just noticed that too! I have also been placed on the wait-list. Hopefully we both make it in! From what I read from previous years there is a large turn-over rate at Columbia because of the cost, so hopefully are chances are good. I am just nervous now because I need to file Fafsa, but don't know if I should put Columbia on the application or not..ahh stressful.. I want to go to Columbia more than anything so I am hoping the wait-list works out! :)

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted!!! I did not. I'm not even waitlisted!! Ouch. I thought I had a pretty competitive application - high GRE scores, 4.0 prereqs, bilingual, Ivy League B.A., etc. Oh well.

I have to believe it's for the best. I hope you all enjoy your studies at Columbia SON.

accepted to acute np! Thrilled :)

I am not sure if I am accepting my offer. I am trying to decide between a few schools. I will definitely be going to the accepted students day though to hopefully learn more about the program. I was accepted into the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program with an oncology concentration. Is anyone else in the Peds speciality?

I got accepted as well! Congratulations to every else who did! For those who didn't don't give up hope! Wait-listers, just keep your fingers crossed, now-a-days financials play a big part in who can and cannot attend. My stats were,

undergrad GPA: 3.2

last 60 credits: 3.65

pre-reqs: 4.0

GRE: 1310

I also have dual licensure as an EMT in NY and MA as well as 3 years as a biochem lab assistant.

Hope this helps!

I'm pretty sold on Columbia already, but will wait to send in the deposit till after admitted students weekend. (and I have one more school to hear from, guess the waitings not really ever over). Hope to see you all March 4th!!
