Columbia University ETP 2011

Published

Thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread for prospective applicants to Columbia's ETP program starting Summer 2011. I was going to apply last year but passed on it in favor of working for another year.

Applications are due November 15, 2010! Right around the corner ...

Anyone else preparing for this also? :clown:

That email KILLED me. I was in class and saw the blinking red light on my blackberry, all I could see was the subject line "ETP decision" and my professor told me to put my phone away. I sat in class from 11:30 until 1:20 SHAKING...only to find out it wasn't the decision. cruel cruel joke.

On a brighter note, we find out so soooon! I feel like an overwhelming amount of us on here applied to the Psych NP track (well as opposed to the other schools I applied to) Does it seem that way to anyone else?

Haha @Psych Lisa 11 great story I felt the same way when I was sitting in a meeting dying to know what the email said! Have to wait until Tuesday. @urbanknowledge I applied for the nurse practitioner, women's health oncology. How about you?

so we'll find out on tuesday?! omggg...that is sooo nerve-racking!!!!!!

urbanknowlegable-

Thank you so much for that information! And thanks for calling and asking too. Hope everyone is having or at least trying to have a relaxing weekend.

Dear Friends,

Some of you may have been jarred, or even frightened upon receipt of my email on Friday with the subject header: “ETP Decision Notification.” Many were likely disappointed when in fact it contained no information of worth.

Please allow me to explain. It all started with our office pet iguana, Lola. He was hanging out on one of the stacks of admissions files and fell off of a particularly deep stack. As we rushed to his aid, we knocked over several other stacks and, well, we played a far more confused version of 52-card pickup for quite a while.

This was responsible for the delay of admissions decisions from last week. When we updated the FAQ on the website, deleting all references to the first week in February, we considered posting pictures as proof of this certainly extenuating circumstance. However, when we learned on Thursday that Lola is need of hip replacement surgery, we thought the somber moment would make such a public update in poor taste.

We ultimately decided to release this information in the more private, intimate setting of AllNurses. Best of luck with your admissions decisions this week at Columbia, and at whichever other schools you may have applied. And please, pray for Lola.

With all my best wishes,

Jose Villa

Coordinator of Admissions

You know, when I visited the admissions office last fall, I remember seeing a big old aquarium and wondering what lived in it. Must've been Lola's house!

Should have applied for the iguana NP track... :)

a resident admissions iguana?! columbia just went up in my choices! ;) thanks for alleviating our worries jose, and best wishes for lola!
