So where are the potential 2008 Columbia ETPers at? I think a handful of regulars around here have Columbia on their list of apps, so heres a thread to get us through until notifications in Spring 2008. If you'd like, reply here and let us know which specialty you are trying for! I just submitted my app online for Acute Care...Good luck everyone!
fresh direct totally saves me from starving or eating crap in the Heights! Great service. There is also a shuttle to the fabulous Fairway Market twice per week, which helps alot for those of us not used to carrying everything all over town - I'm from Cali and used to loading the car with a week's worth of groceries!! I graduated ETP/RN in May and am now on with the Master's portion, working and schooling full time. Drop a line if you need help. AND relax - you'll get in if you were a strong candidate. Columbia really wants your money, er, I mean, they really want to educate great nurses.Thank you so much dg, you have been helpful beyond comprehension. I've also been looking online for grocery stores and found that there is a Stop & Shop at 5716 Broadway in the Bronx which sounds like it is close to the Target. I use Stop & Shop up here in Boston, but most of the time I actually order my groceries online from their service called peapod and have them delivered...it's amazing. Unfortunately, although there is a store close and they do deliver in NY, it seems that they do not deliver to the area!!! Who knows, hopefully they will start. Anyway, I also found several other online shopping sites such as freshdirect.com which is only a $5 delivery charge, seems to be extremely popular in NYC, and has been going for several years. I also saw another one called MaxDelivery Manhattan (maxdelivery.com) that delivers to the area for $3 and for free in one hour if you spend $75...pretty sweet! Anyway, I figured that it might be helpful considering that people are lugging groceries 15 or 30 minutes by train. I tell you, once you've had groceries delivered for the price public transportation would have cost....you don't go back! : )
Are you saying this because it is "convenient" that all of the people on allnurses that received the email have been accepted?
Coop,
Well Joey86 received his acceptance letter and he didn't get the email about the glitch, so there's some evidence. Good luck calling tomorrow and getting your decision, I would definitely stress the fact that you are waiting on the decision and how it may impact another program. Maybe that will sway them.
Personally, I think emailed decisions would have been a better way to go..no one would be at a geographic disadvantage.
:balloons: congratulations shortcake!!! that's 3 of us for Acute Care so far. I've been watching Trauma Life in the ER on the discovery channel all week and dreaming of getting the training that allows me to work in that wonderfully crazy environment
jbazoola and shortcake, congratulations for us future ACNP! :w00t:
Just curious, are you guys expecting letters from other schools? What is your preference, and where do you really want to end up at? I'm waiting for decisions from Yale and UCSF :icon_roll

I was looking only here in New York since I am absolutely in love with my neighborhood and not wiling to move. The 2 others that I was considering were Pace and Molloy but was holding off to apply until I found out about Columbia. This is really my first choice since it has the 3 year intensive and the acute care option. It also has that ivy league smell which I really think can make a difference when it comes to $ later on and would be a great place to return to in order to teach.
good luck with Yale and UCSF (although here's hoping we see you at Columbia)

Are you saying this because it is "convenient" that all of the people on allnurses that received the email have been accepted? I think I am going to call tomorrow if I do not receive my letter in the mail tonight when I get home and explain that I need to know ASAP! I could potentially lose my place in my back-up school because I have not sent in the $350 acceptance fee (NON-REFUNDABLE)! They could just as easily send the acceptance letters by email. It is getting a bit frustrating and it would have been nice to have gotten a conformation email stating that the letters were not sent out on the 1st like promised in several other emails. Just ranting....
Congrats again to everyone
