Columbia University ETP Program 2013

Published

The thread here for the Columbia University ETP program for entry in 2012 is pretty long (45 pages right now!), so I was hoping to elicit some of the same responses for those who are applying in 2013. Let's get to know each other!

Why are you applying to Columbia? What have you heard about the program- good, bad or ugly? Are you nervous, excited, ambivalent?

Looking forward to getting to know some of you!

@samdaman. awesome! I didnt apply to UCSF, I want to leave california. haha. woot for male nurses!!

Woot for MURSE Practitioners!

Has anyone created a FB page btw?
You should start one! I hope this accepted students day is worth it. I'm spending a lot to go out there. Luckily I won't need to rent a car (thanks to the subway system) and I have someone to stay with.

I think the accepted students day will be worth it, especially if you are between two schools. But even if not, it will be a good opportunity to network and find roomies!

I am trying to make a decision between schools as well, but will definitely be at the visiting day in March. I live in Washington Heights near the hospital as well, so feel free to ask questions if you have any.

Hey everyone! I was accepted into the FNP specialty, very excited!!! I'm from Seattle so planning on moving across the country as well, like some of you Californians. I am still waiting to hear back from Penn and Johns Hopkins, have no idea how I will decide between the three pending I get admissions to those as well.

I am planning on attending the visiting day and can hopefully get a better idea of Columbia's program, financial aid, etc.

I agree, we should start a facebook group!

Excited for the future! :)

Hey everyone! I was accepted to the PNP specialty, but I am still waiting to hear from a few west coast schools. I will be coming from southern California and I am not sure how I feel about living in NYC. Is anybody planning to live outside of the city?

@danimo, I live outside of NYC with my kids, in Rockland County. I plan on commuting every day.

Tried posting this earlier, but it didn't seem to go through on my phone. Does anyone know how to make a closed FB group for accepted students? (I don't know how!)

Also, does anyone want to plan to go out for drinks or another icebreaker activity after Visiting Day? Please post details here (or on FB group) so parents like me can plan to get a babysitter for the night! Thanks!!

I think a happy hour would be a great idea!! I am in VA so I haven't decided if I will drive or fly yet. Whoever makes the facebook group, post a link here :)

Hi everybody!

I've been accepted as well, very excited about it. I live in Seattle, and am potentially interested in seeing if I can defer for a year as I just accepted a new job and want to save some more money before I moved across the country! Has anyone heard anything about the possibility of deferring matriculation I wasn't able to find anything on the website, and have been waiting for the Office of Admissions to calm down a little before I inquire.

Happy hour sounds great! I still need to book my flight and figure out where to stay.
