Columbia School of Nursing MDE 2018

Published

Hi AN fellows!

I know it is super early to start such a thread but I was hopping to connect with potential applicants/classmates for Columbia SON MDE 2018 program!

If you are applying to Columbia SON for summer 2018, let's share our experiences, ideas, thoughts and such!

Looking forward to hearing from some of you!

Anyone know how big the Midwifery class is?

I read somewhere like 17-18 people?

what's your insta?

I'm out here waiting for the Financial Aid package, and I reread prior emails saying that they come out AFTER February 15th. :dead: Does anyone know when this news would typically come in?

On the Columbia MDE 2018 FB page somebody posted that Financial Aid told her they will release the financial aid packages tomorrow. Fingers crossed this is true!

Thanks for the information. I'm still waiting to get approved into that Facebook group, taking a little longer than expected. Ahaha. Here's to hoping that it's true as well!

Hi everyone! Long time lurker with a lot of questions. I'll admit I did not fully understand the application and only applied to MDE, my goal is to apply to DNP FNP concentration, does anyone have an idea of how challenging it is to apply and advance to those programs? If not- what kind of other programs would one consider after the MDE 15 months if their ultimate goal is FNP? Secondly, I think I missed the financial aid deadline, I filled out my FAFSA but was again confused about the additional application. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

FNP is a big program so you have a better chance of getting in than like someone going for midwifery. Additionally current students told me that Columbia likes to retain their students so you will most likely be approved for the internal DNP program (really just depends on seating). As far as financial aid... that was for need based scholarships. I believe that this is new so if you did not apply for that then you will probably only receive loans but obviously you can always talk to financial aid and see if they can assist you in any way once you review your package.

Thanks so much for your response! Fingers crossed everything gets figured out

@Anyone who is waitlisted. Did or are you going to submit new documents? If so, what do you think will be the most helpful for maximizing your chances of getting picked?

Didn't expect financial aid to be THIS generous on scholarship.

Now I don't know what school to choose.

Did everyone get their financial aid package? Does anyone know the highest amount we could have received? It's a little confusing. Trying to figure this out..thanks!

Hi @iambustamante this is my first time posting but I was really eager to post when I saw that you had the same question as I! I received my fin-aid package as well, via email and it was pretty tricky to break down but I received about 24,000 in financial aid. I was accepted to the MDE program and I was hoping to get more financial aid but I am pretty unsure of how to go about that. It seems like the expected cost was written out but I also wonder what the maximum amount of aid we can receive is.
