Columbia ETP Question

Do you have to get your Masters with this program or can you just go for the BSN? I can't seem to find this information anywhere! I'm interested in the program and want to contact admissions, but I do not want to ask this and sound stupid when they say, "Uhhhh no."

.. I'd rather all of you do that instead :D

Right, so,

The first year of the program is get BSN and pass NCLEX.

I have heard of people leaving after the first year and not coming back.

Most take a year off and then return for their masters portion.

Bear in mind that once you factor in tuition and expenses that BSN will cost you a shade over 101,000.00 dollars.

If thats not a problem, god bless you. Bottomline, if all you want is a BSN, this really is not the right program for you..

I did just my BSN as did a few of my friends. It's frowned upon which is why they don't advertise it on the website and I know they were making some changes that made that harder to do but I think you can still do it. I think they won't let you get your degree till October now but that shouldn't stop you from getting a job. I don't know where Mindlor came up with that figure of 101k, I don't owe anywhere near that amount for ETP and my loans have been in deferment and compounding interest since I graduated 4 years ago but everyone's situation is different.

Thats good to know! Thank you both. I was wondering about that figure too.. I found that each credit is about 1100 and it's a 60 credit program, so it would be closer to 70. I'm interested in the program but I'd want to wait a while before getting a masters degree.. by the time I'm done with the ABSN (if I get in, fingers crossed) I'll have been in school full time for the last 20 years..... and I need a break.

I am not good at many many things.

One of the things I am good at is math.

With rent, food, mandatory health insurance, transportation, basic living expenses such as clothes and toiletries and a very spartan entertainment budget I assure you it is right at 101,000.00.

Please call and ask them if you doubt my math. How do I know? I am scheduled to start in June and the figures were taken directly off of my financial aid award letter.

There i an SON scholarship that will pay roughly 22,000.00 but it is need based. If you are looking at this school for a BSN only you or your family are rich and you will more than likely not qualify for any need based aid.

Perhaps you live in the city or nearby and will ot have the expense of room, board and transportation.....I dunno.....none of my business. You asked the question I gave the answer and thats all I ahve to say on the matter :)

Thank you, Mindlor, your information is definitely helpful. My families finances are really not important here, but I will be coming from close by and I'm not factoring things like rent, groceries, etc. I'm just trying to figure out what type of loan I would have to take out if I did get into this program.
