I was looking around the DORA site and noticed they were listed under the LPN programs and I just never have heard of them I called just out of curiousity and on their recording they had it listed that they had a CNA & LPN program I was just curious if anyone has heard of them and if so what :p

Its funny that you should post this when I was going to do the same thing. I saw an ad in the base paper, and was curious myself.

it says you must get a 75 on the entrence exam, and be a CNA, which i am not. I'm currently taking classes at ppcc and would love some info from ANYONE!!!

I talked to a couple people at the school and the DNEP and they sounded like honestly nice people!!! They were very open about their school and willing to open all the questions I had. I am defintly going to keep it on the list of things to look at!

I know that I was told IF you arent a CNA you could take their CNA program & they still had some openings for this September class...they only run their program once a year in September.

Also I notice you said you saw it in the base newspaper and they had mention in you are in the military they do accept military benifets

I called them and here is their low down........

They are a new program accred. and approved by the board of nursing...

You must be a CNA and HS grad to apply.

You have to take thier entrance exam cost as of the time I called is 50.00

Thier program is 12mths long and costs include tuition, books, tests, graduation, Insur. ETC...or as she put it "everything".... for the bargain price of 18,600 or 1,550 a mth.

The program runs M-F they do have day and night classes.

I about fell out of my chair at the cost but it is what it is. Had they told me 10,000 or maybe even 12,000 I would of been so there but not at that price. at least right now... especially since I'd have to commute from the springs...

Its definitly not cheap but the postitive is they don't have waiting...... course neither does the Colorado Tech School in Pueblo.... but they too are expensive. Just have to weigh costs vs time over lower cost colleges with longer waits.....

I went through this school as a CNA. Its located behind the KFC on pueblo boulevard in a plain looking building. The teachers there were great. I have been considering this program again to get my LPN instead of going through Otero Junior College. They work with you if you have issues.

Wow that's a lot for LPN! I have to wonder what the starting pay is for LPN in Pueblo, as well as the job market? I paid 1/2 that for my RN in a community college in the Denver area.

ETA- "everything" doesn't include room and board or meals I see.

My hospital in Denver just let go of all the LPN's. No grandfathering, nothing. Due to many hospitals going toward Magnet status, there will be fewer and fewer jobs available for LPNs.

The cost of this program (half of what I paid for an RN-BSN at an expensive private university) combined with the narrowing job market make this not a good gamble, IMHO.

I have a friend that was looking for a LPN program down that way and cant seem to find it anymore :-/ I dont know what happen to it and I was going to recommend it too her. She is planning to move back to Texas after she finisheds and she says there is a lot of jobs for LPN down th

ere. I know there is a lot of LVN schools down there and I almost think it might be in her best interest to just go to school down there.
