COLLIN COLLEGE FALL 2020

Published

Hey guys! Who here is applying for the fall 2020 term? Anyone else here unable to take the TEAS due to the cancellations? I signed up for two test dates, both of which were canceled. I see they've updated the process with alternatives put in place for those who were unable to take the TEAS. That being said, it's still super confusing since the admission process is points-based and a major part of the selection criteria is your TEAS scores. I hope this doesn't mean that those who were unable to take the TEAS are not going to be prioritized in the admissions process. ?

I just got a rejection email also.. I need to retake my TEAS too as I didn't do so well. Just out of curiosity, what were your points those that got a rejected email? I guess I need to shoot for 17 points or 16 with at least 8 tie breaker points? Also, can anyone share with me a good TEAS study books with practice questions? Thank you all and good luck to you who made it in for Fall 2020 and best wishes to those preparing for Spring 2021!

I applied with 16 points + 7 points for tiebreaker. I think the competition just was super high this time around & they did reduce the amount of accepted applicants due to covid.

As far as study material, I’d recommend the TEAS mometrix book & the ATI practice tests!

Oh WOW!.. I bet you were real close to making it! I am sure you will make it for Spring! Thanks for your recommendation on TEAS study material! : )

Does anyone know how many times the TEAS test can be taken? In other words, since it’s a new application cycle, would I be able to schedule for two TEAS tests, and submit the better of the two scores?

You are able to take the TEAS twice in an application period and then submit yoir highest score from that period.

Thank you! So, in this case, this would be a considered a new application cycle, so I would be able to retest twice, correct?

For Collin, yes. You need to be careful scheduling your TEAS dates if you are planning on applying for multiple programs though.

The Fall application period ended June 5th so between June 6th and whenever the Spring application deadline is you are free to take it twice.

On a side note, my friends and I all used the ATI practice tests, which really helped. However, the best thing that we did was buy a Kaplan TEAS prep book which breaks down EXACTLY what each section is looking for/trends of questions/tips for taking it. One of my friends actually signed up for a TEAS tutor and she said it helped her tremendously (her TEAS was a 92), but it cost some pretty serious $$$ though.

Nice. It seems like all of us who got in had 4.0 and around a 90 TEAS. This class was ultra competitive. See you on the 28th. Side note, do you know what the 2nd backround check is all about? I mean the first one is an FBI check and the same type when I got certified as a police officer... So I can't imagine what the second one is... Drug screening maybe?

The first background check is from TBON, which may have access to specific criminal charges such as assault, and the second is probably a regular courthouse database search for everything else. The drug screening is unrelated.

I’ll see you on the 28th. I’ll be wearing a black collared shirt.

I’m starting a group text chat for this year’s nursing students. A group chat will be formed either now or in a couple of months when we all need each other’s help, so it doesn’t matter when.

Has anyone received the email to schedule fingerprints yet? or the drug test?

No, and the group chat that has 6 of us all haven't either...
