Hi, I know it’s kinda early but I wanted to start a string for those applying to Collin college ADN/RN program in the Fall of 2022. I just want to know where I fall points wise and competitive wise to others who are also applying this coming Fall.

Hello Katrina,
As far as shoe brands / types of shoes go there’s only a couple things that you need to consider. Any closed toed tennis shoe is fine during lab days (thu) and open lab days (days you sign up for extra lab practice), during our examination days in lab where we have to wear our uniform you need white, non porous tennis shoes and the same goes for clinicals. You want shoes that can block urine, vomit, feces, spit… etc from getting to your socks should it hit your shoes. Brand does not matter for either instance! Hope that helps.

During validations I only ever saw solid white shoes. The handbook states solid white shoes as well.. you might be able to get away with a logo that’s a different color but from my experience everyone had solid white shoes.
I saw a mixture of New Balance, Nike, Sketchers, Clove, and Hoka brands. Clove and Hoka are pretty dang expensive and not necessary IMO.

Oh okay thank you! Im going to play it safe and get all white shoes
I think I know the answer to this, but I’m going to ask anyway. We don’t have to follow the degree plan exactly correct? Correct me if I’m wrong, but the nursing program only operates during the fall and Spring semesters. We have to take all the RNSG courses for the first semester, but we can take PSYC after fall?

Hello Greg,
the nursing program is grouped all in together for the fall and Spring semesters (the email for registration codes was sent out today) anything outside of the nursing program can be taken separately outside of the fall and Spring semester.. IE Psyc, English, Chem… etc. I would highly recommend getting those done during Summer and Winter semesters as the nursing program is exceptionally fast paced and information dense. I have friends in the program that decided to take an extra course outside of the specific program courses and they highly regretted it.

That is correct, I’ve already taken my psyc, English and life span class, so I don’t need to take those, you just have to take the RNSG classes in order on the given schedule.

You can get the Amazon copy if you want an actual physical book. They gave us a web link last semester for a free website they recommended with everything we need for APA formatting. I have it bookmarked and can link it once I get to my laptop.
