Hello,
Just wondering on the follow up of people who are taking the LVN-RN via college network..
1. How is it?
2. How long will it take for you?
3. Anyone pass the phase 1?
4. Where are you in the progression of the phase?
5. Are you happy with the program?
6. Any california people taking this and results?
The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking about doing this program also and met with a rep, but I didn't think he was willing to take my pre-req...So I will call them up again and re-evaluate the situation.
I can't wait any longer due to california lottery system and the fact that is is HARD to find a job as a LVN......The only jobs that are available at the moment is through the agency and I need a fulltime job for bills.

Well I just signed up. It' gonna take me about 2 years. I only have to complete 2 lower division coures, then apply to ISU. Finish up 4 nursing classes with the modules, then start on the 3rd phase with include clinicals. I am very excited to start. The other classess I need are the upper division classess which I will take during the summer (patho, statistics, ethics) I live in san bernardino county and the person I spoke to said that they are in process of approving 2 clinicals sites close to me. I think it's gonna work out. I figure that if I keep waiting for the ADN program to call, I would have finished with this program. I did my homework and saw on the california rn website that it it an approved program. That's all I needed to go for it. I don't have to work only weekend like I did through LVN last year!!. That was hell. The price isn't even bad. about 12000 for ISU not inlcuding books and about 6000 for testing out modules and testing fees. Thats way better than West coast university in Hollywood which is 70,000 now!!
PS....
they took all the classes I had taken at community college and gave me credit for it, the thing is that some of the classes that you have to take for a bachelors are upper division courses not really offered at junior colleges.
You are so right...I got my BS a long time about but done my nursing pre -reqs at junior college and the rep told me that I have to take 7 out of the 10 classes...so i said "Are you for really??"""
I'm going to talk to the people at Indiana who set me up with the rep and tell them to send another one in my area who knows how to evaluate the transcripts.....
Will do that in June and then sign up with them because I heard that many people are doing that due to lottery and hard to get into the RN program anywhere.
Thanks for the input sabousa....
From what I understand, there are 18 classes that need to be completed to get your BSN, but to apply to isu, you need the pre reqs which are A&p, chemistry, english 1a or 101, computers, college algebra, intro to sociology, intro psychology, public speaking, and Micro. These classes are almost the same pre reqs to get your ADN at a community college in California, so I had most of theses except 2 classes which were computers and college algrebra. So i will CLEP these tests. But you see I still need other classes that I can take while I'm at ISU which are patho, stats, ethichs enlish 102, 1b, gerontoly, literature, foreign language, PE, and techinal writing. Some of those classes I mentioned are upper division classes or are not required for your ADN.So after I take those two classes I need now (college algebra and computers) I will appply to the ISU program, I also need a 2.5 Gpa in all college work. So I am also gonna be in summer school and finish up my PE and English 1b to boost my gpa. After that about September I hope. I will apply to ISU and start on the 4 Nursing classes I need which are also modules and test out. (phase 2) THEN i WILL START ON THE PHASE 3 WHICH ARE THE online CLASSES.i GOT A LOT OF INFO FROM THE GUY i TALKED TOO. Just remember that a lot of classes won't count but a lot will, check out the ISU admission process and requirements on their website.

As far as I know, after you test out on each subject, you call the 1-800 number to inform them that you're done with the subject. Anyway, before you start a new subject you have to call the 1-800 number to make sure that you have the right edition of the book, because if its an older version they will send you a new one at no cost to you.
After you have tested out all the classes and successfully passed them, you call the 1-800 number again and remind them that you're done with everything. They will tell you what to do, and also your filing fee will be waived since you're in the program.
Hope that helps.

Is there anyone that has graduated from ISU by way of the college network? I am a new LPN and plan to register with them in the fall. I also live in florida. I have a bachelors degree and completed coursework for a MS. I am hoping that College Network takes most of my courses. Any feedback anyone can give me. How reputable are they? how long does it generally take to complete. How difficult has it been to work and take the classes. My LPN program was self paced so i am pretty disciplined.
Thank you for any information you can give me.

yall do realize that tcn is a publishing company and does not evaluate credits ,does not grant degrees and you do not have to go through them for any distance learning program. the reason they want to come see you lady aquene is to get your money!!!

@ lady aquene:
i just talked to a rep from tcn two days ago and then yesterday made the decision to sign up with them. there is no entrance exam, test, or entrance interview. it's just them sending someone to answer all your questions. i had him meet me @ a starbucks out here and it was a great experience. as the wife of the "hillbilly" so wittingly put it:
yes, of course they want your money. who doesn't? the next question you need to ask is, "what do they offer for my money?"
tcn (the publishing company) just offers you the study materials to pass the exit exams for all of your pre-reqs. not a bad deal in my opinion... yeah, it will cost you.. but show me a higher education that's free. also, the speed in which you get the courses done is 100% up to you. take 1 week per exam or take 1 month... it doesn't matter.
when you finish your pre-reqs (passing all the exit exam tests), you are then accepted into isu's lvn-bsn program. that's where tcn leaves the equation and isu takes over.
it seems like a legitimate deal and if you have the drive and motivation to study and pass the tests... its pretty sweet. i can still hold a full time job, hang out with my friends, and do whatever as long as i take like 2-4 hours a day and study anywhere i am.
some people need someone like an instructor hounding them to get stuff done and accomplish this... that's cool too, but this program isn't for them.
i hope that answered some questions.

I think most people problem with the College Network is the cost of the learning modules. But hey, most people don't have the time to search for the cheaper, used, and possibly outdated modules on the net. If you do, good job! I know a few people taking the College Network route with ISU and have no complaints with the modules or the price because it's an investment in their career. As a new grad RN (in the Bay Area starting at $40/hr) how quickly can you pay that back? I believe the college network also have a guarantee that you will pass the exams or they will hire a tutor at no cost. I think that's a good deal. My advice is to do what is convenient for you and if you do sign, stick with it. It requires a lot of discipline to do online/distant learning because you don't have a teacher telling you what to do or when to do it.
